Among neutrals yes. But Eng/Aus fans, the marquee even will still be the Ashes.Ashes 2019 will draw even less attention because the World Cup will be the marquee event of the summer. Could actually turn out to be a really good series without the over-the-top buildup that usually precedes the Ashes.
Not while our batsmen can make hundreds and our bowlers can take 20 wickets. The pitches haven't helped in the slightest.
Hopefully this series will wake up Australia to the reality that their pitches are amongst the worst in world cricket.
Yes, it is all about the Ashes for these two teams.Among neutrals yes. But Eng/Aus fans, the marquee even will still be the Ashes.
Thats what test cricket is, people seem to be getting confused with T20 and test cricket. Just add more overs to T20 if you just want bash and crash cricket.Normally Australia has her fast wickets but the MCG and to a lesser extent Gabba were flat decks. None of this would have affected the result as England were rubbish but it did lead to some turgid cricket from a viewing perspective.
It is mostly that it's pretty easy to just follow the scoreboard on pitches like these. You kind of know exactly what's going on anyway.I guess it's also possible that the ashes in England threads are more popular due to the time zone being better. No early wake ups to watch the match for Aussies.
There is a difference between leaving something for the bowlers, and requiring twenty20. That MCG was a terrible wicket.Thats what test cricket is, people seem to be getting confused with T20 and test cricket. Just add more overs to T20 if you just want bash and crash cricket.
cricket in SA is in the perfect time zone for all who are righteous and important. Also because they are more competitive. Pitches in England just make more more interesting cricket as bowlers are always in the game. Cricket in South Africa is in a difficult timezone too but look at the India-SA thread.
There is plenty for the bowlers, in fact four Australian bowlers took 20 wickets in the series, what you mean is they should make pitches for teams that dont have bowlers that do hard work and need conditions to suit them. There is a difference between leaving something for the bowlers, and requiring twenty20. And what are we make of Steve Smith's comment? There is plenty for the bowlers, in fact four Australian bowlers took 20 wickets in the series, what you mean is they should make pitches for teams that dont have bowlers that do hard work and need conditions to suit them.
Blaming the wickets is horseshit, england won four of the five tosses so if anything they had the easier conditions but their bowlers just gave up and coasted. weak as piss to blame the pitches.
"It was probably the flattest wicket I have played on...If we played for the next two days it wouldn't change...It was very hard to get guys out...It was so slow. The pitch needs to have something in it - more pace or to break up so it spins."
Reasonable, the MCG drop in has been flat for years but all the other wickets were fine. You dont class other wickets based on the comments about the MCG and its not like other countries including england dont have flat pitches. How do you explain the Australian bowlers taking 20 wickets in the other 4 tests. And what are we make of Steve Smith's comment?
It was the MCG I was discussing, hence my ''that MCG was a terrible wicket''.Reasonable, the MCG drop in has been flat for years but all the other wickets were fine. It's worth remembering a semi-professional club cricketer like Voges had a test average of around 100 due to the disgusting roads CA put out these days.Reasonable, the MCG drop in has been flat for years but all the other wickets were fine.
