Beaton now reported for a suspect action. I think most of his deliveries are fine but there were a couple that I thought looked suspect so it's worth getting it checked. There have been murmurs about him in domestic cricket before but he wasn't called in the under 19 World Cup a few years back and his action hasn't changed. It's a strange one.

This tour has honestly been the worst I can remember for a long time. Nothing has gone right, we've been hopelessly outgunned with very little to cheer. Batsmen keep getting mini starts and getting out, bowlers have been all over the place. I keep watching them and thinking I would love to see a Corey collymore/Kemar Roach/Cameron Cuffy type who has no great pace but bowls good lengths most of the time meaning the batsmen have to take risks. Watching Worker and Nicholls cut short wide balls for 1 all innings long is really depressing.

We're awful at ODIs, like worse than we've been in any other format. If Gayle or Lewis don't go big or Shai Hope doesn't anchor the innings we lose. It's pathetic. Also, Jason Holder should not be the ODI captain. His tactics to let Nicholls and Astle bunt it around for a run a ball partnership when they were under pressure was seriously bad. We need someone more tactically astute to try and get the most out of this very limited ODI side.

Anyway, Merry Christmas to everyone here, I'll be back to no doubt comment on more amateurishness on Boxing Day.

I think you misconstrued the feeling before the World Cup. Trent wasn't taken to India for the 5-match ODI series which from memory was December 2014, and apart from that in 18 months had played two ODIs v SA. On the basis of that, he was picked in the World Cup squad. I had an issue with it, not that I didn't think he was good enough - just that it was strange he was being picked seemingly on Test form and two ODIs. A lot of people couldn't believe he didn't go to India.

And now he's my favourite cricketer, moving towards potentially of all-time. **** I love watching him bowl. Genuinely great fielder, slogs it with the bat, plays golf off a 4, drinks Panhead...the man is a genius. Just wish he'd sort his ND bowling mate out.

I'm over the moon for Anaru being picked in the T20 squad, he's a good man.

Without seeing numbers, surely Chapman deserved a go though? Ideal time to pick a young guy who clearly has incredible hitting skill?

howsie still pulling that out two years on after a world cup where we all loved him is even funnier when he can barely bring himself to say Wagner's name.

Come on Phelgm, nobody liked that selection. At the time Kyle Mills was a must have in the playing XI by the folk on CW. Would’ve taken us all the way to the QF at best. Luckily Hesson and the gang had their thinking hats on during that period.

Tbf there were very few kiwi posters wanting to keep Boult out of the team, a few would vary week to week on if Boult or mills should be in the starting Xi. And by the time the world cup actually started it was pretty clear.

I can imagine Howsie turning on the cricket after an hour out of the house, excited to see we'd taken wickets then glum when he sees Wagner took them. Kinda like someone who wins Lotto but then discovers those were last week's numbers.

Kyle was bowling better and more often in the 18 months up to the World Cup. They finally played Trent in the Sri Lankan and Pakistan warm-up games and he proved to be the guy, rest is history. We're all happy we were 'wrong', or misguided or whatever. As I've said many times it was the fact he didn't tour India for 5 ODIs when you'd think someone in their plans should've.

Just tuned in to see Munro slash to slip. Good crowd turned out, this could be more competitive than the last couple... or NZ could just score nothing and get creamed at this rate.

Hopefully that's the last we'll see of Neil Broom.

Quite like Cotterel - his action looks weird at first, the way he's a bit side-arm and muscles the ball - but is actually swinging it a bit today as well as janking the ball away from the right hander off the pitch. Don't know if a test cricket bowler but looks a good limited overs prospect.

Yeah this was his chance to kind of cement a spot as a backup for Williamson and Taylor, and maybe make the World Cup squad as a result if they decided to carry a specialist backup for that role. He's blown it entirely now -- the next time Williamson or Taylor are out they'll just pick Worker in the middle order or move Latham up. I highly doubt he'll be playing for New Zealand again.
