Boycott saying he wouldn't bowl Anderson or Broad into the wind, but can you imagine how he'd be reacting if Woakes or Overton were bowling now.

Which shows what might have been if they'd bothered to pitch the ball up more often.

tbh my first thought when waking up to an Aus score of 51 for 1 was that we'd batted first and been bowled out. Turns out that wasn't the case, but our bowlers had preferred to waste the new ball in what look like helpful conditions, which is equally depressing. Because why would a bunch of FM seamers want to bowl a decent length anyway? Just hopeless. You can only hope that the one good thing to come out of this series is that it will transform Root into the hard nosed Borderesque skipper that English cricket so desperately needs.
