***Official*** 1st Test at Brisbane

Cheers.

Do you think that England and Australia’s batting this test has been a bit, i dunno, too blocky?
First test of the ashes. Lots of players playing for their place. Nerves and a slow pitch.

I think the players, crowd and the watching cricket public at large are also mourning the loss of Ben Stokes from this series. He's the only player in either team who is a blockbuster star. As stated before, a champion of LGBT rights in the current Aus political climate would have been a boost to the nation. #LoveWins

edit- Warner possibly is too.

Has any world class batsman had as much rubbish said about him for no logical reason as Steve Smith?
Seems like first impressions are really important with cricket journalists.

The dumb thing about Smith is that there was plenty of evidence of his potential early on in his career if you knew what you were looking for.

There was little potential to be seen by his batting performance at the MCG in 2010.

Even after he came back in India, it was immediately obvious that he was a way, way better batsman than before. Really should have tonned up at Mohali, then blew golden opportunities at Trent Bridge and Old Trafford.

That’s why he’s TPC. Got dropped, came back a zillion times better after working his backside off.

What gets me is if he misses out a few times he basically ****ing wills himself to score runs. Even today, he was so patient against really tight bowling making it hard to score. The bloke is a proper run machine.

Yeah, pushing hard at the moving ball away from his body. Exactly what he doesn't do now.

Don't try and highbrow me you swine. I was there, you were probably still sucking bundy rum from your mothers teat.

Those are technical issues possessed by many young and upcoming batsmen which can be polished of with hard work. Raw potential can be seen through the ability to pick the length early, Hand eye co, fast hands and feet, timing etc which were all evident.

Also post reported for personal insults so tough titties

starts on 33 mins

Plumb LBW not given. Good hard nothing shot push at the ball to nick off. There was literally NOTHING to suggest Smith would go on to be the run machine he is now.

If this fact insults you, complain away!
