Forgot to check if the bookies were offering odds on Smith vs. Root head to head for runs in the series. You'd think Smith would have started as a slight favourite prior to the series starting.
He'll be a huge favourite considering Root hasnt made runs in Aus and Smith goes to bed every night handling his length thinking about drop-in-pitches.

You can't compare 2013 Root with the player he is now. There's zero reasons for Root not to be successful on these decks this time around. Likely to be relatively flat wickets, and it's not Australia have a 2013 Johnson-type weapon in this current side.

Pitch definitely seems to have a bit more zip through to the keeper now, which is good to see

Hard to think of an Oz bat who is a bigger struggler against off-spin than Khawaja. And the scary thing is that he’s gotten worse in the past 18 months.

I see Smith's average has nudged north of 60 again for the time. At what point can we legitimately question whether he's as good a bat as Ponting now the chap has played nearly 60 tests, averages 60 with 20 hundreds?

IIRC Ponting's peak was in the mid-2000s where his average reached 59 for a time.

If you asked 50 cricket fans, including the family and friends of Steve Smith, if they would rather watch Ponting or Smith. Ponting would get 50 votes.

They keep picking these spuds around him and TPC will end up being the TOTAB of this generation.

Its not like Smith is boring to watch like Cook, he's just ugly but he can entertain. His Pune 100 was one of the best test innings in India that I have ever seen.
