Ashes. Blah. The cup you get if you win is tiny. We should all be getting excited for the Hong Kong Blitz, shouldn't we?
The Hong Kong Blitz trophy is huge. Can easily fit dozens of Ashes urns inside it.

Plus it's streamed for free on Youtube all around the world. No need to worry about pay walls, region blocked apps, or paying an arm and a leg for a Sky subscription.

Luckily someone invented the mute button.

Actually, Warne and KP aside last seasons' commentary was surprisingly tolerable. Unlike the previous one where I watched the majority of the tests with no sound. I'd like to see Waqar again but that won't be happening. I wonder who the token non-Mark Nicholas Englishman is going to be?

Edit: Oh **** we're getting Pietersen again.

I found it refreshing watching a shield stream recently in which there was no commentary; just the sound of exotic birds tweeting and a bloke snoring. Watching Channel Nine's coverage, we usually look forward to Mark Nicholas screaming like an excited school girl whenever England loses a wicket (he loves the Aussies doesn't he, Nicholas?); Lawry's bias; Pietersen and Warne's palsmenship, discussing things like Pizza; and Clarke's whiney voice. I'd normally say we Brits do the commentary much better but we now have Swann on Test Match Special so this is becoming a more difficult act to sustain.

BT's punditry has Vaughan, Boycott and Punter apparently. I think Swann might be there also!

I thought Mark Nicholas was Australian for years because of the stuff he said. I wasn't old or smart enough to pick up that his accent wasn't right.

Ponting has been superb at commentating the Big Bash. Wish 9 would pick him up. 9 haven't gotten anyone from our 00s golden era except Warne.

Vaughan the gobshite, Swann the gobshite and boycott the sometimes gobshite for us.

Gilchrist, ponting and Damien Fleming. So based of ponting on sky and the other 2 on BBL. I’d rather listen to the Aussies.

Ponting is on BT. Sky have nothing but 2005 repeats and ABV ''masterclasses'' for the entire Ashes.

You know the hype for a series is real when we begin discussing who the commentators are.
The Ashes doesn't need hype. It does need a higher quality of commentator to match the higher quality occasion. Unlike when three people are watching a Bangladesh series.
