Stokes Arrested

But what about the guy that was almost murdered by this fist swinging orangutan? Isn't he the real victim here?

Stokes got into a fight and came out on top. The 2 guys turned out to be a right pair of ***** and were obviuosly asking for it. So what, he's been punished enough already, get him on the plane and give us a better chance of turning the real convicts over
Nah.

Is it just me, or did those two guys who claimed Stokes was defending them closely resemble Andrew Strauss and Joe Root in bad wigs?

The biggest criminal act in that video is the preference for shocking white trainers by all participants - really Ben, I thought that IPL cash would have covered a decent pair of shoes?

Prefer white trainers to that Nike Air zip tie crap that's flooding my instagram atm.

Surely you're meant to remove the damn thing

Strauss thinks the police should hurry up and clarify a criminal investigation because there’s a game of cricket to consider? Don’t think so Andy.

I'm torn on this tbh. On the one hand it's hard to argue with your sentiments.......the law is more important than a sport and Ben Stokes is not above the law.

But on the other, the police have the video evidence, they have their witnesses now.......what's the ****ing hold up? Right or wrong this investigation doesn't involve a Joe Nobody where it really doesn't matter if it takes 6 months to go to court. It's estimated 30,000 England fans will travel to Aus for the series, there are a **** load of people who have a vested interest in a quick resolution to the matter. And the Ashes, well they are a pretty big deal for both countries.

I think all Strauss is calling for is for the police to conclude their investigation one way or another. It's not like he's asking for a soft line because it's Ben Stokes involved. If he is to be charged and they want to throw the book at him then fine, just get on and do it so we can all move on.

In the time Avon and Somerset Police have taken so far since the date of the alleged offence back in 1952 Derek Bentley had been tried and sentenced to death - Heaven forfend we should go back to those days

It is no longer a question of whether Stokes can make the 2017-18 Ashes in time, but whether or not they'll have concluded their investigations in time for the Ashes 2019.

I think it will be a 2 Test ban by the ECB. Only thing is how many Tests will England have played by then.

On the other hand, maybe the ECB could be the one to resolve this issue and simply state that regardless of the outcome of the investigation, stokes isn't playing the Ashes

Yeah, but if you're the kind of person who punches someone on a night out your club probably consists of knuckle-draggers.

Does your club side pay you 700,000 pounds a year with the expectation that you be an ambassador for the sport and a role model to millions of influential youngsters?
