This Stokes fella then, closing in on joining the 1000 runs 100 wicket club and when you look at his stats there are only 8 players in history who are on the list with more tons than he currently has and he will clearly go past a few as Miller had 7 and Greig and Kapil Dev 8. Think he will end up as one of the top ranked all rounders who were primarily a batsman come the end of his career as even if he has an injury and can't bowl he would get in the side at present as a bat alone given how poor our top order are. Add in the ridiculous spell he produced yesterday and he is some player to have given the silly catches he constantly pulls off.

Just hope we keep him fit for many years to come as players like this don't come round too often. Scaly will no doubt moan about him missing a game he has to bowl 4 overs in yet he can bowl a 13 over spell in a test but there are bigger fish to fry than a stupid T20 match. I'd be tempted to rest him for the ODI's too, that or tell him to get in a spat with Samuels so he gets an enforced rest and is clear for the ashes ahead.

He is a strange combination really as he is a much better bat than Flintoff but not as good a bowler but has more Michelle's as when he gets it right he goes into Broad god mode and is almost unplayable. I think yesterday was probably the finest spell in a Lord's test since McGrath in 97 it was that good. Just pray we don't overuse him as we need him for years to come.

He is literally so different from Harris who was a real pitch up bowler. Odd comparison
I think he means going from medium pace bowler to genuine quick as he gets older. Holding reckons it is more to do with the front leg than anything else as Gabriel has his straight and Holders is bent a lot in delivery stride. He says that is where a lot of pace is lost and he should know a bit about that. I guess at this stage it may be hard to rectify that issue but he has all the tools to be a real nightmare if he could find even another 5mph to what he already has.

Got a train at quarter to 7 tomorrow to get down to London, looks like i'm just going to spend my whole day in the pub looking a the weather forecast. WTF London sort your weather out.
Looks like the first session will go uninterrupted, but the other two will be washed out.

I fear for the ODI series running from the 19th to the 29th September. Most of them seem to be Day/Night which means even on a good day the spectators will need their blankets after dark.

Be surprised if there's more than an hour's play or so today. Was v wet when I woke up this morning, no sunshine around to dry things out and there's thunderstorms forecast later on. Pity, have been enjoying this series.

Roach bowling so well again to left handers. Need one partnership to put us in control, not sure it will happen though.

Need 2 more before we're officially into the tail (don't think TRJ can survive in these conditions)

It can rain for the day now and come back tomorrow with the sun out will do.

Seriously though it will probably be on off all day and Roach can bowl all day possibly which will help WI.

WI just need 1-2 more short passages of play today - they need 2 wickets today TBH

TRJ, Broad and Anderson can be dismissed tomorrow morning

This is what happens when the curators read a memo by Stokes right before the game titled "A Ben Stokes Pitch: The English Curator's Guide"

They should just not bother with the covers and make this an old fashioned sticky wicket tbh. An 1890s scorecard would be so good in this era.
