sounds like a by-line to a Marvel Franchise Movie. The Mirage and The Fizz operating in tandem
Can't they get these two men out cheaply

This game probably comes down to how long Smith bats in this innings.Strap yourselves in for a SSmith clinic
A masterclass, if you will
Do you mean bowl like Ashwin bowls? Or bowl like Ashwin is?Indeed - bowl ugly - bowl like Ashwin
Yes indeed, Ashwin bowls ugly. Puts his ego aside, uses his limited tools as a finger spinner to just do the dirty work no one else will. Puts in the hard yards and doesn't give the batsmen an inch when conditions suit him. It's not glorious, but it gets the job done.Indeed - bowl ugly - bowl like Ashwin
Seems to me as though Lyon has really changed the way he bowls in Asia compared to how he classically did, essentially quicker and more side-spin.
edit: or maybe hb is on to something and he just started chucking to fit in
SOK just bowled terribly. I don't know if it was just the lack of preparation but that is not the bowler that's dominated Australian cricket for the best part of a decade. Typical of selectors to finally pick a guy who should have been playing for the last 8 years just when he loses it.

Basically the bowling version of Alan Border in a way

The difference, of course, is that both Border and Lyon perform their respective roles effectively both home and away, whereas poor Ashwin does it ugly even at home. It's a subtle, but important distinction.
Mark Waugh, but he was really just a part timer. Last truly athletic front line spinner I can think of was Harper for the Windeis in the 80s and the early 90s.
there's never been an athletic spinner has there. they're almost all ungainly, desk job type dudes.
People don't value him enough. He's a pleasure to watch when in rhythm on helpful wickets; has everything you could possibly look for in an orthodox offie. It's gonna be funny when Lyon has more wickets than Dennis Lillee and some people still want to drop him for a batsman
Much better than it used to be. Only probably a handful of genuinely fat players at international level now. Most of whom are spinners. If you guys are watching cricket to see athletic people you guys are watching the wrong sport
