Its frustrating to lose after the improvement shown in our last Indian series. I suppose you have to be patient but its hard not to see losing to BD, competitive though they are, as a step back from the expectations raised from that series. Still our spin bowling looks a lot better with Lyon, SOK and now Agar showing promise. Two of those guys have taken hauls in the sub con so you'd be confident our bowling options are there. Thankfully we have 5 pace bowlers to cover for the injuries we've resigned ourselves to accept. The batting was always going to be a problem. Not just on our recent history in the sub con but the enforced rebuilding after the dismantling by SA. Off hand you'd only put Marsh in as a subcon specialist but only if you overlook his last series there. So we'll just have to stick with Usman. Thankfully its only 2 tests. A longer tour of duty might have him suffering PTSD before the Ashes. Assuming BD prepare a bunsen for the next game I'd have O'Keefe and Cartwright for Wade and Haze, whose putative replacement, Bird, I'm guessing would not be anymore effective. I only supported the re selection of Wade because he would bring more runs than Nevill. Hasn't worked out like that and I think he should be replaced for the Ashes. For this one test I'd have Handscomb take the sticks.
For BD they wont have to change their team. Which is good for us because some of the alternative selections mentioned in this thread would only seem to make them stronger.
So our XI would be Warner, Renshaw, Usman, Smith, Handscomb (wk) Maxwell, Cartwright, Agar, Cummins, O'Keefe, Lyon.
