Interesting, while there's some genuine incidents of racism/religious bigotry going on in the west, sadly there's lots of false reports similar to what this seems to be, especially in the US in the last 7-8 months, where many an incident has later been exposed as being completely fabricated.

i haven't been following this particular story closely enough to comment on, but the false reports in the US are purely based on a political agenda and creating a false/overstated narrative.

Whoever perpetuated that story is a scumbag if it's not true. Tamim could already be going through something to have to return home and having to deal with a bull**** story like that is the last thing you need.

This is exactly the sort of thing that ****s up an already ****ed up world even more. The main culprit here are the Bangladeshi newspapers who were reporting this incident without first verifying it fully and checking with Tamim. Misinformation and rumours are not something new. People will resort to it. We can't help ourselves. But that's why we need institutions to perform due dilligence and not publish stuff that are not checked and verified with the source. It's basic journalism 101.
