Yup, and was allowed to play cricket all through his Geelong Falcons career. His Mum went down and said "My son James plays football in winter, and cricket in summer. He won't be down for pre-season, he'll see you in March after cricket finals."

Alistair Lynch played some park cricket against some people I knew. He had long since retired from AFL at that point but would have been good enough to play at a decently high grade level (he wasn't playing grade because he was playing with some friends).

AFL and cricket seem to have similar overlapping physical requirements (though obviously I could never see Boonie playing AFL).

I'm pretty sure that this pay dispute will drag out until the India series. Once that is threatened and the BCCI get involved CA will break the impasse.

I don't think it'll be resolved until India tbh. Unless channel 9 puts pressure on CA sooner.

This is what shits me about the whole fiasco. Sure, the players can want more money, but seriously, the test players are loaded, and now a team developing as a test nation is denied an opportunity to play against an elite nation.

I know we're a developing side but I would hardly call Bangladesh is "elite"

Yeah he'd have to play as an overseas player in one country or the other if he wanted to play in both of them, and I can't see either Hampshire or Tassie being keen on him with that stipulation. I suppose he might be willing to give up Hampshire for Tassie if he got an offer though.

How quickly could he get his English status back?

He's been stuffed around a bit by Victoria contracting him - he could have been doing this for four years already. He's better suited to English conditions - lacks a yard but swings the ball really well, he's Andrew McDonald but can't really be trusted to bat above seven in Shield cricket, can probably bat at 6 in County stuff.

Shits used to be filtered, but the filter struggles hard with words where the "root" swear word is only part of the word IIRC. You can blame Google for *** being filtered though.
