Ian Holland de-listed but not given up.
Why?It is extremely weird how you are so consistent on opposing anything remotely feminine when it comes to cricket, like they spread girl germs or something.
Not gonna happen. Neither side will budge until something they really care about is threatened (for CA it's the India tour, for the players it's the ashes).Hopefully they can sort this out before Australia A is due to depart to SA on Friday
Thanks mateWelcome back btw HowardJ. I haven't seen you on here in a while.
Who's side was who on? What was slats saying?Slats and Ed Cowan having a ding dong go on Sky Sports Radio this morning.
What are you basing this off? Seems to me that there is at least some type of 'crowd' that is stopping people from watching women's cricket. I'd say that these 2 factors would be a big part of it.Most cricket fans haven't played cricket to a standard remotely close to what the women's world cup is being played at.
Again, just like the 'we watch cricket for the physicality' crowd, the 'we can't watch cricket that is a lower standard to the level we play' crowd doesn't seem to me to be a large one.
I've heard it said about Women's tennis from, that it's a different sport entirely from the men's game. I can imagine women's cricket being enjoyable to watch despite the physical differences, like watching Chris Harris bowling to Kepler Wessels or something. You're not going to see big sixes or 140kph bowling but you can still have a decent contest.I don't like girls either cos they are mean to me
Think in an universe where men's cricket doesn't exist, women's cricket would be such a hit. As mentioned few times in this thread, raw power and pace are the two things people crave so much to see in this sport and its genuinely difficult to enjoy women's cricket knowing that far greater level of the same thing exists for me at least.
Nine is supposedly meeting with potential Ashes advertisers this weekI think domestic players with mortgages won't be able to wait until the Ashes - it's a pretty big thing for your income to disappear, even if you are on $200 000 or $300 000
And I think CA will feel massive heat from Channel Nine who, as I understand it, won't be able to promote the Ashes series with the players' images until this is sorted out
Yep.Ed would have been pro-player
Slats CA
A) because most cricket fans don't play cricket to a standard where they can say they play at a higher level than woman's international cricketWhat are you basing this off? Seems to me that there is at least some type of 'crowd' that is stopping people from watching women's cricket. I'd say that these 2 factors would be a big part of it.
The mens under-15s nation championships aren't televised or hugely popular for similar reasons
Yeah but that's because most cricket fans are terrible at cricketA) because most cricket fans don't play cricket to a standard where they can say they play at a higher level than woman's international cricket
Simply not true in the slightest, and even if it was not necessarily relevant to cricket. Complaints about the standard of women's cricket are nothing compared to in those other sports you mentioned.B) Because people will watch woman's athletics, tennis, MMA, etc without the same complaints of them being lesser athletes than the men
not sure how this is relevant, but if your point is that women's cricket has potential to be enjoyable? If so then, yes, I agree, that's what I was saying.C) Because, as you pointed out, men's cricket has plenty of times where the cricket on display isn't the most athletic and yet it's riveting and people watch it
What do you mean by "arguments" though? They aren't "arguments" for anything, they're hypotheses for reasons why it's not popular. I really don't get what you're saying. These arguments just don't hold up logically. They seem like easy narratives people like to put out, not actually reasons.
Again, how is this relevant? Youth cricket isn't often televised and people don't really pay to watch it. Even though under-19s and under 17s, probably even under-15s are a higher standard than International womens'.Oh, and regarding kids cricket not being televised - high school and college sports are huge in the USA. Schoolboy baseball is huge in Japan. Clearly people can watch and enjoy kids play sports.

2 months ago they had an interview and Slater was basically on CA's side then, I assume he and most of the C9 guys have only been briefed by CA more since thenWho's side was who on? What was slats saying?
Do we know how that got started for female MMA though? I have a feeling it was already a lot more popular, comparative to the Men's version, than women's cricket is. And brought a lot more money in as well.I think it's just lack of coverage tbh
Imagine if every women's cricket series had the same depth of coverage as the men do on Cricinfo, Cricketweb, social media, news outlets, etc.
The only sport I can compare to is MMA, and over there women's MMA is very clearly atleast a decade (if not more) behind the men's in terms of skills and strategy, and they're obviously smaller and less athletic, but they aren't any less popular. And most MMA fans say it's because they fight on the same cards, their fights get analysed by the same analysts, they get interviewed on the same shows, and it's just so easy to follow and watch them that people do it.
