End to a great series and Kohli still takes one more opportunity to make himself look like a petulant child in front of the tabloids.

Graceful as a necrophiliac.

far out what a series that was brilliant, one of the best in recent memory if not the best

matt renshaw was solid with the bat and played a crucial knock in pune but appeared to be tired and a bit off as the series wore on, fair enough for a guy in their first ever overseas tour starting with his fifth test
warner was so bad and stinks it up away which is an absurd position considering he's seen as the team's second best bat. he's arguably the worst of the specialist bats overseas not just due to the lack of results but the sheer lack of application
steve smith was immense and though i have an irrational hatred of him he was insanely good in all aspects except maybe post-pune captaincy, and took a lot of responsibility
handscomb's disappointment was not in the lack of runs but the fact he showed so much promise before lapsing: am prepared to excuse this due to it being his first real subcontinent experience
shaun marsh did not have a great average but imo worked as a horses for courses selection and pulled out two big knocks when it mattered: his series shows why cricket isn't played on paper
matthew wade showed the grit and grunt he was expected to and though i didn't think he should have been selected he definitely justified it and i have no problem if he stays on
pat cummins was excellent and it was awesome to see he didn't break after the volume of overs in ranchi. one for the future but must be managed, and is most definitely going to enjoy the break
josh hazlewood is our most consistent and best pacer and imo the best in the world not named vernon (who's had a shitter in nz admittedly) and dale, just due to his consistency - showed he has grown after a lacklustre sri lanka series in the past
nathan lyon was up and down and when he was on he was on, but he was off he was very very off - worked better when he bowled slower, as per the usual so he should do it more often ffs
sokky boy was outstanding in pune but india did what aus domestic batsmen do not and actually respected his bowling after that, working him out especially after he tired in ranchi after bowling a million ****in overs
mitch starc was strong with the bat and solid with the ball but proved he still has the inconsistencies in his game and tendency to bleed at inopportune times so that's something to work out
mitch marsh is a bowling all rounder and not a batting all rounder and the management management are big dumb idiots for not playing him as such
glenn maxwell was awesome and should have been bowled a bit more i think, showed he has the mettle to succeed at the very highest level of cricket

vijay didn't get going really barring ranchi and some staunch in bangalore which saddened me bc i love him, but it was quality bowling that troubled him so nothing of huge concern
rahul bossed it but showed focus issues in converting starts in to hundreds, but he did what he had to in blunting the new ball and the big quicks and then some
che pujara was brilliant and is the rock in india's lineup, proving time and again he is the more important wicket, excelling against both pace and spin and proving almost undismissable at times
rahane didn't have a great series but made some vital contributions most recently in dharamsala's third, and captained well in the absence of kohli
the less said about name the better, high score of 303 next highest of around 26
saha's keping was superb and he batted gritty when it mattered. helped india to recover from more than a couple compromising positions especially yesterday with jadeja
ashwin came to the party only twice but when he did he was the life of it, key wickets in bangalore and dharamsala and some batting here too, but he was a bit lethargic from the huge home series
jadeja is a ****in gun, can bat can bowl can field and likes swords, which he put australia to multiple times. definite mots for me and he's grown heaps as a player
bhuvi i was called in a time of need and did his job in the second inns, after bowling well in the first for little reward
umesh had a gun series and took his personal best wickets in a series, often bowling with pace and fire on indian tracks which was great to see
kuldeep came and did what he had to to dismantle aus in the first, adding mystery and spice as india's trump card in the bottom of the ninth
ishant didn't do horribly and will forever be remembered for making that face, and bowled with more vigour and voracity than his figures will suggest
big lols at virat for sucking and ruining my fantasy team's first round pick

sorry i was only here for the final but i watched the full piece and it was g l o r i o u s

A big decisive factor for this match's result was Kuldeep Yadav. I don't think India could have won without selecting him. When Australia were cruising at 140 for 1 going at almost 4 runs an over, he came on and picked up 4 important wickets and spectacularly arrested their momentum. Ashwin and Jadeja both looked harmless on the first day I thought and without his 4 wickets Aus would have made 400 runs at the least.

Aus were a bit unlucky in that they had to fend off a total wild card on a series decider.

I'm shocked that India have won the last series against every team. Did not think that would ever happen. Didn't realize that until the commentators mentioned it just now...
Weren't England holding the set a few months back before they toured us?

EDIT : No, they had failed to beat Pakistan

SOK too was a bit of a wild card for us in Pune though so I guess it evens out.

I agree Kuldeep was important, but if Australia are unlucky for having to face him then India were unlucky for having to bowl to Smith, face Lyon Haze Cummins, and deal with a side that had so much preparation beforehand at the end of their season.

Well played India.

Winning the series despite one of their best batsmen, Kohli, not making runs.

That was Australia's best team.

You could quibble about MMarsh and Wade but it was the best we could field.

Sad that it is over

Your opposition being better prepared /= bad luck

Agree fully with the sentiment that this has been the best test series in a long time.

Was impressed by many players throughout the tour, namely (not necessarily in any particular order):

Smith
Wade
Lyon (probably didn't have much impact in the end tbh, but I love him and his stats ended up good so I'm including him)
Renshaw (even if he fell away)
Maxwell
Shaun Marsh (played a couple of crucial knocks and I think he deserves some recognition to make up for some of the undeserved hate he gets)
Pujara
Jadeja
Rahul

O'Keefe's a bit of an odd one. Despite winning Australia the first game and being, statistically, Australia's best bowler of the series, as Shady alluded to, his performance felt like that of someone who did well via surprise factor and then got found out. That said, he did win Australia the first test and I'm probably not giving it enough credit because it feels a long time ago now. Bonus marks for making Warne look stupid during that test.

Kohli the only real disappointment for me, in that with everyone else who did badly, you weren't really surprised and there were some mitigating factors.

Kohli: I thought Australia's cricketers were my friends. Been proven wrong. You'll never hear me say that again. https://twitter.com/anandvasu/status/846617515295830022

God.. Make Rahane captain or something. WAC.
This after Smith offered him a beer too. What an asshole.
FFS

I'm a bit of a fanboi but he's even making it hard for me to defend him.

Why is he doing the PC anyway.. he should have let Rahane take the spotlight.

yea my point exactly. Having to face a new bowler you've never seen before and trying to score runs off him in tricky conditions is what you're supposed to be able to do as a Test batsman. It's the whole point. Can't be calling them 'unlucky' for having to do their job.
