The League Cup has the decency to get out of the way and be played in midweek. If anything it feels like a bonus whenever games are on.

The FA Cup is like that annoying **** on a night out that nobody wanted to come and who won't stop talking to you when you'd rather be talking to anyone else.

Like I said, I'd keep the 3rd round as is, but the rest of the competition should really be midweek and they should get replays to ****.
That's just nonsense, from elitists that just want their weekends not ruined from their Prem stuff. Fact is the FA CUP does mean much more to grassroot supporters than the League Cup. FFS I'm not an "against modern football" idjit, but just let some people who aren't Prem supporting zombies have a bit of excitement in their lives.

More and more Championship clubs don't take the competition seriously, and fans down to League 2 level are more interested in league games than cup games.

This year's R16 has been so good. Sets up the quarters beautifully too with only good and/or fun teams left.

Last bit blatantly isn't true tbh
Yeah, no idea where he gets that. almost like he doesn't support a lower-league club.

The buzz in the Town for a big draw is nothing like in the League Cup. We've played Liverpool in both the last few years in both, there's no comparison in the hype around the match despite the fact that the team 'pool played in the League Cup was much better.

Anyway it's an odd argument to be making this year, as the FA Cup semi-final weekend is infinitely better this year than watching the thrilling procession of Abrahmovic's playthings coasting to the title. Oh but there's the fight for 4th place, yay. You have no idea how much the majority of football fans don't give a flying **** about that.

I suspect there's a generational aspect to this. The FA Cup will always mean more to you and me because we grew up with it being such a big deal, and also when it was far more interesting in terms of who actually won it. Whereas those who've only been around since the advent of the EPL and the big five taking turns to win it once their reserves have got them to the last eight won't feel any sort of attachment.

For me, the presence of non-league sides will always give it the edge over the League Cup, plus the little matter of 140+ years of history. It would help if the FA had the faintest idea how to package it though.

Good old football, a yellow card for winning the ball.

Players who hound the referee or try and cheat penalties? A yellow card once in a blue moon.

Yeah it is.
Grecian still qualifies and told you it's nonsense. I qualified two years ago and god knows will soon and I'll tell you it's nonsense. I'm gonna hazard a guess that the pair of us - who don't exactly agree on that many things lets be fair - understand lower league fans better, are more qualified to speak on behalf of them and speak with more of them.

The FA Cup Final doesn't hold the lustre it did. But Tranmere in the cup, if we'd only ****ing qualify, it's still the most exciting thing.

Edit - case in point, last time Prenton Park was over half full was an FA Cup game against Swansea, when we were in L2.
