I don't like the proposals at all but I don't think they are trying to 'kill' county cricket or anything like that. Twenty20 cricket is not the devil, it is absolutely essential, the annoying thing is that I actually think the Blast in its current form is pretty decent.

I don't know how it will all go, but I do know that the vast majority of Australian cricket people were just as negative on the Big Bash as everyone here was. There had been record crowds in the State based T20 competition the year before it launched.

Think two T20 competitions in the one season is sheer madness though.

How big was - is - membership to the state sides though? In England we have 80,000 plus county member.

They bring quite a lot of money to the game though at circa £160 - £240 per person per year. You are certainly making a big mistake pissing county members off which this new plastic Macdonald's competition is liable to do.

Glos playing Oxford MCCU today at the parks. Would have been quite nice yesterday. Bit chilly today. Leicestershire also playing an intersquad game at home today.

I think nearly all other counties are overseas right now. UAE, Barbados, Somerset are in Spain.

Carberry with a 50 yesterday in his first game back for Hampshire against Notts in Barbados. Weatherley has already gone out on loan to Kent for the season.

These North v South games might be fairly exciting under normal circumstances but England places are basically locked down for the CT. Hopefully Wood can make it through the tour. Maybe best if he only plays white ball cricket in the lead into the champs trophy.
