They're still really poor away from home aren't they, but at least competitive in their own backyard.
Ok I would wait for at least few years of consistent test performances at home before making that call. They have just won 1 home test. Other than that, there is no evidence to suggest they are any better in home tests.
2015 which was their peak as an international side, just have a look at their tests against India and Pakistan that year after beating both in the ODIs.
Congrats to SL and Herath. Thoroughly outplayed. There are so many problems with BD team. No idea what to do with them. They dont lack anything. Starting from pays to facilities you name it.
What they lack is a concerted focus on long form cricket starting from the board level.
How serious is the cricket board on building a potent test side? The masses are happy with ODI success you get the impression the board is just too happy to take credit for that and keep things as they are. There has been no effort to improve FC. The highest scorers there are still national discards like Tushar Imran and Shahriar Nafees.
Players who get classified as 'test cricketer' are seen as relegated cricketers. They barely get opportunities to play and improve
Case in point - Jubair Hossain, Mohammad Shahid and now Mominul Haq.
And then of course there's the lack of opportunity. Playing 2 test matches a year is not helping the team develop fitness, stamina or just the mental ability to be used to playing for 5 days.
ICC and the Bigger boards in charge of cricket schedules and calendars is obviously to blame for this but BCB is not without blame either. They have a lot of money now, a lot of sponsors and if they want, they can actively pursue other teams to improve their test schedule.
