I want to see this guy playing international cricket it to early for him to calling it quits, i think and the only moves possible for him is a possible move to England or Australia cricket team.

Yeah, he's still only 27 and has recently been much improved at international level, I think, so it would be shame if he never got another chance. That said, he's certainly left his future in limbo somewhat - it's certain nothing's certain, but I don't mind - I get the feeling he'll be fine.

My money is on him doing a Faf or Rudolph and returning to SA in a couple of years and being a better player for the experience.

SeamUp

International Coach
Seen him do it for years in SA and he was doing it for the national team. Very frustrating he is gone but I suppose with him not being a definite in the ODI's and still not getting a test debut after years of dominating he chased financial security. Huge loss. Has that confident arrogance about him to succeed at the highest level.

Surely the only way to deter players giving up their country for counties via a kolpak move is to not allow any international return of players once they have made that decision

Yeah, in all honesty I wouldn't be surprised if he played out this Kolpak contract, came back to a post-AB, post-Faf, post-Amla South African side to knock out a somewhat successful 40-odd Test career.

As has been said before, you can't blame these white cricketers leaving in droves for greener and more dependable pastures.

I think we'll see more of this. If I'm NZ cricket atm, I'm scouting the young white SA cricketers out there with some nice attractive tourism brochures, before they all bugger off to England.
