Yeah me too. Shades of Hansie at the 99 WC, though in hindsight he may have been on the phone to ladbrokes.

In terms of the commentators mentioning Ben Laughlin's record vs. Watson, it's laughable that CA think the Striker's management/analysts wouldn't be aware of player vs player statistics like this anyway. That is what the analysts do FFS, and a lot more in depth than that as well.

All-round stupidly.
I wish I could agree. And possibly I should.

Yet, over the years, I have been absolutely baffled about the lack of common sense professionalism in top sports Maybe the Strikers' management is doing a great job. To be fair, I have no clue whether they do or not. But I do know that lack of professionalism is common in professional sports.

Wasn't aware that a commentator giving Brad Hodge advice was "fun and entertainment". Thought it was more about cricket myself.

You're technically correct. It was the fact it was such an easily accessible obvious stat was why I thought it was a bit of storm in a teacup.

Sodhi bowled beautifully, just proves how hard you can be to play in T20 as a bowler who spins it both ways.

EDIT: played a very similar role to Rashid last year for them, Jordan an ordinary signing in retrospect but I guess it would have been at short notice.

Don't see how the commentary thing is any different to the Channel 9 commentators talking through declaration/run chase stats and opinions when they know the Australians are listening in on Sportsears and reacting to what they're saying while on camera.

It's surely not that hard to understand the difference between saying it to someone on the sidelines, as compared to someone on the field at the time who is captain and in direct control of something like bowling changes.

How was Laughlin's 2 wickets from 7 balls obvious and easily accessible?

Let's take two guys playing today. What's Ben Cutting's record when bowling to Cam White? I'll give you an hour.

Renegades over/under for the first 6 overs was just 44.5 - So low considering the bowling attack Heat picked.

Pretty sure Ben Laughlin himself would know. Doesn't get much more easily accessible than that.

All balls are logged by the teams, and matchups are one of the most important things that the T20 teams look at.

Really? That would be very surprising that a bowler knows how many balls he's bowled to a batsman over multiple games - without looking it up.

So would a team go into specifics "saying you've gotten him 2 times from 7 balls" or would they say you've had success bowling to him and remind him how you've got him out?

Depends on the coaching staff and their emphasis, but every team would have a log of every game in BBL (at least) that bowler x has bowled to batsman y, with their cumulative stats over that time if they wanted it.

There would be a heap more done on general trends with batsmen - what type of bowling, or balls in certain areas, get them out.

Mate if I'd gotten a certain player (especially a high profile) out quickly in the last couple games I'd played him there's no way I'm forgetting that
