I didn't say he was as good as bell, Carl Hooper was similar and both are much better players than JP.Duminy can only pray for a career as good as Bell's.

He must have a very impressive average in Australia. If you discount India, where he only averages 10.62 after 5 matches, Duminy averages close to 50 away from home, but only 32.1 in South Africa. That's where the inconsistency lies, and it's quite the disparity,
Bar Australia the rest are very small sample sizes in each country.Duminy's averages in each country:
- Australia: 47.77 (7 matches, 10 innings)
- Bangladesh: 0 (2 matches, 1 innings)
- England: 67.50 (3 matches, 4 innings)
- India: 10.62 (5 matches, 8 innings)
- New Zealand: 136 (1 match, 2 innnings)
- South Africa: 32.10 (19 matches, 33 innings)
- Sri Lanka: 57.00 (2 matches, 4 innings)
- UAE: 23.33 (2 matches, 3 innings)
- Zimbabwe: 55 (1 match, 1 innings)
Yes, but political considerations mean that Cook or Elgar are closer to the chopping block than Bavuma.AB needs to come in for Bavuma, ideally. Having an absolute shocker of a series.
I agree, but on form now, he's got to be the one who goes when AB is back. The thing with Bavuma is that the times he has come good have the bat have been:
a) Critically important runs
b) Only resulted in fifties and not big tons
He's also been electric in the field
I think he's earned himself a long rope on cricketing merit TBH. But once ABDV is back he would definitely be the first name on the chopping block.
Next Test starts on the 8th of March in Dunedin.Bavuma has moved to the top of the pile to be dropped with this failure and Duminy`s ton.... long time till next test though.
Almost 2 months , ODI T20 series franchise cricket... chances for injury and loss/gain of form etc but Bavuma should make way for AB right now.Next Test starts on the 8th of March in Dunedin.
