I still don't like it. In good batting conditions what difference does it make to spend an extra half-session out there to make potentially an extra 80-100 runs. We saw in Brisbane that the "bat twice, declare and set a big 4th innings target can be dangerous.

Well I think if you had established spinners who were known for taking wickets, rather than being gifted wickets, you might attack a bit more - but ultimately, they're facing a cooked side who isn't putting up resistance, they could've declared at 450 and won this match comfortably.

Harsh describing him as a tailender, guy averages just under 25, closer to an allrounder than a useful lower order batsman for mine.

Don't these ****ers check the stats? O'Keefe's averaging nearly 30 in FC cricket. Hazlewood is an okay tailender but nothing more and might get halfway there but it's a serious lack of thought and insight into O'Keefe's ability with the bat. They got it wrong a few times in other matches as well.

Well adub was right, only Starc and O'Keefe were getting ready to bat. I can't say I agree to this declaration at this stage.
Perhaps Smith is thinking it will stay a batsman's wicket, but he surely has to now, as a New South Welshman that the SCG, unlike the other 5 grounds, don't drop in their pitches, so it will probably change in a few days and become more difficult as the match goes on.
