I suspect Starc and Hazelwood, assuming they're both fit. Starc in particular was crazy good vs SL. If he gets reverse at his pace he's going to be dangerous.
Yep. SOK could be useful if he's recovered as well.

Whatever it takes!!!
Think Rob Key hit the nail on the head reg. the declaration being delayed for Karyn's 300. Having won the series and given its a flat track, it will be very odd if the extra 6-7 overs makes the difference for India. And given how rare opportunities to score test match 300s would be, it was a pretty understandable decision AFAIC.

Nair's batting average before this Test was 8.50. Now averages 160.00. Has anyone made such a big jump from one Test to the next?

Well, they could have tried taking the spinner with by far the best record in the county championship last summer.

Now OK, obviously there's no guarantee that he'd have been good enough to trouble Kohli and chums enough to change the result, and I do understand that the players not chosen will always rise in stature when the team gets as badly thrashed as this. But if they really thought that Batty, Ansari and Dawson were better bets, then they can expect one almighty spraying afaics.

Beyond that, we'll see how often India pass 600 and even 700 against Australia next year. I suspect that Aus will make them work rather harder for their runs tbh.
Here's an article that gives a new reason about Leach's non-selection:

It was his action now, apparently.

****ing Parthiv. Eat a dick ****. And the rest of you idiots who suggested there was a competition between him and Saha can suck a lemon too.

Pathiv Patel is literally awful when it comes to catching the nicks... drops such easy chances!
And doesn't look all that comfortable keeping..when it's spinning..

No way he'll be preferred over Saha anymore! This drop has definitely ensured that Saha will ease back into the XI

That's not as easy a nick as it looks. When a keeper is standing up to the stumps, nicks that deviate that much not easy. The time between the nick and when it reaches the keeper is very little. A good keeper is expected to move with the ball (rise and move sideways) depending upon the movement of the ball as it deviates and rises after pitching. This makes sure his hands are in line (and height) of the ball when it touches the bat - after that a little deviation makes the ball land somewhere in the gloves. This moved considerably. He did well to move his hands after he heard the nick but the deviation was a bit too much. It would have been a super catch if he had taken it.

I have always felt Parthiv was not a good enough keeper to ever have played for India but this time when he has come back his keeping technique has been impressive. In this series his movement (or lack of it) with the ball has been superb. Some of the balls that have kept very very low have been collected by him with élan. He does rise for those low grubbers but his hands stay low and in line with the ball.

Dhoni does not do that which is why balls that keep low escape him more often than not.

It was actually Kohli's catch but Parthiv's movement was instinctive. No time to decide to leave it for the slip. The old Parthiv would not have reached it and India would have, probably got a wicket.

That was not an easy catch in my humble opinion.
