Oh and one point about Hameed, the lad is the new Nasser Hussain.

Been a long time since we had a player who gets the ridiculous dismissals all the time and in his last 3 innings he has been stuffed by a run out had a ball that would have given a worm a headache and had one take off today. Lad is jinxed.

Isn't he only opening as the injury happened today/yesterday so he is having to open as well as keep and the lad on debut bats at 6?

Outfield is like lightning and when these two get to the pitch of the ball they are spanking it for four. Plenty of runs out there and if there's any justice Root should be having a bath full of spikes right now

Yeah, but the injury happened yesterday and that's plenty of time to fly Dhawan in. He just finished playing a Ranji match so is match fit too.

Ofcourse Paarthiv gets assigned as keeper/opener right after Jake and I talk about why keeper/openers don't work in Test cricket. Of course.

Bit of uneven bounce on this wicket, and where it seams it spins, so this could be a low scoring game all around. Stokes and Bairstow batting quite well. Not sure what a good first innings score here is tbh. 350 maybe?

At least they could pick a proper opener in place of Karun Nair. There's a reason why Matt Prior never opened the innings and Bairstow doesn't.
