 Wadey boy !

The more you think of it. I seem to remember Wade started well but then faded off and along with a couple of dropped catches... it all seemed to get a bit much for him but even in those struggles he is averaging 11 runs more than Nevill ! I respect keeping but if you got the basis for it , I genuinely think you can improve with hard work and that must be in Wade's favour.

For me Nevill, needs to bat 6 with his batting style because he is a bit turgid isn't he ? But I do doubt if he is good enough to bat 6.
iirc the flak started when he completely arsed up an edge off du Plessis in Adelaide standing up to Siddle (probably cost the match) after that Ch9 had a microscope over him and even at times Healy struggled to shill him (apart from whoever he caught at Melbourne running back where Ch9 praised it the second coming)

Nah he was genuinely terrible. Missed a lot of stumpings and a number of fairly regulation catches as well. Not doubting his batting prowess one bit, but his keeping was seriously ordinary. I don't even know if it was a technical thing or a concentration thing tbh. Either one is redeemable though. I mean, Healy was terribad when he started for Australia but became one of the best glovemen ever.

Peter Handscomb's last seven first-class innings: 112, 4, 137, 87, 78, 60, 110*. Hard to see him not being in the Adelaide Test squad.

Oh I wasn't disputing he was completely fecal, just trying to pinpoint where the degenerate nature of his glove""""work""""" became evident to the wider audience

If the selectors are worth their weight in gold and they believe they can grow into good test cricketers they need to back them now even with their flaws because lets face it, lots of batsman have flaws but still score runs. I think it's more to do with attitude and self-belief making it as an international batsman. You see so many players with good FC careers look like absolute little monkeys when batting.

You take Stiaan van Zyl v Bavuma. Bavuma doesn't even average 40 in FC cricket but looks at home there while van Zyl averges mid 40's but look like a deer in headlights.
You never know till you give them ago. I certainly wouldn't have picked Bavuma as being the better of the pair. I'm personally inclined to give Fergo another dig, although really just because I feel sorry for him, but Patterson and Handscomb have both been in very good form recently and one of them should play.

Talented sportsman, just doesn't have keepers' hands.

As I've said a few times, in an alternative world Wade is batting at 6 in the Australian side having been a batsman for Tasmania the past decade.

Handscomb sticking his hand up right when everyone is watching. Very well timed innings which should see him picked for the next test.

Ferguson out of the runs though.

He wouldn't be my pick but I definitely don't hate it. He had a much better 2014/15 than I thought even if a lot of his runs were coming down lower in the order with the gloves, and I think he'll do well in India (at least comparatively) if they stick with him for that.

As long as they don't do something absurd like pick Renshaw, I'm cool with Handscomb and/or Patterson coming in.

Renshaw wouldn't be the worst pick. The kid is known for batting for long periods of time, which is one thing the Australian team is lacking right now.

Have to wonder if Ferg will benefit from Voges injury. Unless they are serious about changes and bring in Handscomb and KPat then it's either Ferg or Burns.

Selectors could replace half the batting lineup. I'd be surprised if Burns or Voges gets a gig next test. We may see up to three youth picks if the selectors have lost faith in Ferguson.

Warner, Smith, Uzi and now Handscomb are locks now surely.

Burns and Ferg would have started Thursday still in pretty good shape to play Adelaide, but now must be in real doubt. Burns especially must be almost a certain goner. The Usman to open idea has been openly canvased before so it's not hard to see a Warner, Khawaja, Smith top three lining up next test.

Nafe isn't doing himself any favours either, but SOK hasn't done enough to make it a no brainer if the selectors are putting (excessive) importance on this game.

Bird goes and makes runs just as Marsh quits #badtiming
