Disappointing. I hope we can at least come away with something in the bronze game - it would be a shame if it turned out to be an exact repeat of 2012.

Really disappointing, again, for NZ. Just didn't really show up. Had a strong third quarter but didn't take our chances, and looked suspect at the back the whole game. What was really disappointing was our option taking; we often ignored simple passes in favour of speculative balls forward, and tried to dribble through the defenders' sticks far too often.

GB meanwhile are a decent shot at the gold medal. The Dutch have been misfiring a bit this tournament, and while they're favourites GB are definitely capable of an upset.

Going to be watching Nicola Adams tonight. Form was a little poor on her first fight but hopefully will pick up some tonight.

Not a great source, but it does help people understand why despite our massive population, we can't produce top athletes.
Hangers on and officials tagging along for a jolly isn't unique to India.

The point about the US not having a minister for sport is a dumb one. It's not needed in the States because they can rely on their excellent collegiate programmes to churn out athletes. If you don't have a programme like that and the state is looking to oversee one, then you absolutely need a minister for sport.

Such a sad way for Ezekiel Kemboi to go out. Still the steeple chase assembly line must continue. All hail Conselsus Kipruto

At the expense of support staff though?

It's not a great article for the point I'm making, but if you read Bindra's criticism over the years on sports in India, it makes you pretty mad. When you have politicians all over India sitting on sports governing bodies who've got zero body of any relevant experience behind them, you know there's definitely some deep seated corruption going on behind the scenes. I wrote a rubbish essay on this once in school, was a breeze to find ***ual harassment cases, financial irregularities, age cheating, scathing statements from affected players and even the cabinet rejecting anti corruption bills. When you combine all that with widespread poverty and a lack of facilities (our Winter Olympians practice by sending their luge down a ****ing highway), it's really not surprising we're so ****.

But of course, vegetarians are the number one cause of the lack of medals. Now that the beef ban is in place it's only going to get worse.

P. V. Sindhu got to the badminton final also, Silver assured there, hopefully she can upset Marin for the Gold.

We're on a roll now, world domination is inevitable, all the other nations might as well give up right now. :D :)

Sure we will...I am targeting the 2052 games for us to match Phelp's number of golds as a country...I am sure it will be a proud moment for India...
