Wow, just Wow. makes the Deeney price-tag seem reasonable though.
The price inflation seems to be catching Wenger out too. Heard him this week saying he's "ovepaid for players" before and couldn't think of anyone since Reyes- I assume he's talking about Ozil and Sanchez, who were both absolute nailed-on bargains. Might explain him pissing around over Mustafi, although word on the street is he wants to save as much money as possible for a striker.

I really like seeing Sterling do well even though he's at Citeh. Turns out there's a level of constant unwarranted abuse with heavy racist undertones that can overcome my dislike for the club.

Or maybe it's just that I hate Liverpool more and want to see their army of ex-players in the media look like dicks.

Couple of tremendous goals for City.

I'm a huge fan of this fullbacks as midfielders idea. I've been a huge fan of the 'midfielder as 3rd centre half' tactic but I think having players with stamina who are good dribblers is a brilliant tactical idea.

I've not watched either of city's games. Explain the full backs as midfielders thing

When City have the ball the full backs are tucking in and basically playing as central midfielders. Fernandinho tucks back to play as a 3rd centre half so it's a 3-2-2-3 sort of shape.

He's basically playing the cheat tactics from CM94 then?

Best way I can explain it is to compare it to a traditional premier league side like Tottenham, who use the FBs for width with Eriksen and Lamela tucking inside. It's basically the opposite, with the fullbacks tucking in and the wingers/wide attackers giving the width. Think the idea is that it means they have less ground to cover to get back into position which helps stop counter attacks, but also allows them to pretty much play five attackers without being open or sacrificing build up play. Helps make it really easy to give the wide players 1v1 situations as well.

The MNF bit on it is probably worth watching if you can find it.

BARNES OUT
Caught a replay. My biggest takeaway from that game is that Nolito really seems to play well with Aguero, which would be the first forward we've bought since Kun signed to do so (bar 10 games of Negredo I guess). Also, Sterling looks a changed player.
