*Official* Pakistan in England and Ireland 2016

No reason to drop Hales tbh. Give him the SC tour and see how he gets on. If he fails there then I'm at a loss. Hameed?

yeah, Broad never really seemed too threatening either did he. Didn't give too many runs away I suppose so at least he bowled within himself.

Bayliss picked him for his batting and captaincy. To be honest, I don't really see another candidate if he had to pick from Pakistan. No one performed in more than 1 game...maybe Shafiq if you count Lords and Sohail has 2 5fers. Yasir was a candidate but his 2nd and 3rd test performances effectively ruled him out.

Hameed looks like he will be class. Soft hands and plays late. Good temperament for test cricket.

But only a year out of school and I think he'll (and England) gradually want to expand his game before he reaches test cricket. He'd probably do all right but I think you want him to just get a bit more experience and expand his game a little - which he's already doing tbh.

Good chance he goes on a lions trip this winter

Whatever it takes!!!
Congrats to Pak. Amazing display to come back from a thrashing and then a test loss plucked from the jaws of an easy draw. They won more sessions than England IMO and hence, the better team even in a 2-2 draw.

But credit to England too. Its not easy to compete and almost win a series the way they have with basically 2 proper performing batsman in the top 5. But they are really becoming a ridiculous side now, aren't they? All their best batsmen in the middle also seem to be bowlers and then they end up selecting passengers in the XI. And with their ODI side, seems like every new good batsman coming through is a keeper. Where will they go when they need a 6th or 7th bowler? :p

Bit TIC there. I m just jealous of the amazing depth this England side seems to be building up.

Its not split, I think. England have been doing this thing of having a MoS from each side from as long back as I can remember.
I'm not too fussed about it but I don't think I agree with this approach. Woakes to me was far and away the most consistent player (maybe the only consistent player) out of both sides. Any time we had something going you could count on him to be threatening and break a partnership, and then went on to contribute with the bat as well.

It's created some absurdities in its time too. Javed Omar got Man of the Series in 2015 for hitting one half century in two Tests.
Whenever I want to talk about how much better Bangladesh are I bring up that series. Yeah they are a little bit crap now but 10 years ago they were club standard on a good day.

Reckon Broad would have wrecked **** on the 1st day if they'd got the overs in. It just felt like things were going to happen.

Broad averaged 28 in this series, has some high standards for going completely missing these days.
They brought up his series average when he started bowling this test and I thought they must've been wrong given the amount of criticism he's been getting.

I've seen elsewhere people talking about resting him for India. It really is amazing, he just needs a few tests that aren't brilliant and people want him dropped again. I thought it may have ended for a bit, but no it's started again.

Did he not have a pretty decent first Test which got overshadowed by Yasir and Woakes? Like 5 or 6 for basically **** all for the match?

I can't see any reason not to drop him.

Give Bell-Drummond or Duckett a go. Hameed is tempting but lets give him some Lions games.
