Mark Waugh - could field anywhere..Record holder test
Stephen Fleming - big hands..likely to pass Waugh
Brian Mcmillan - Huge Hands!!
Jeremy Coney - 2nd slip specialist
Mark Taylor - best slip to spin bowler i've seen.


Heard a lot about Ian Chappell, botham and a few others, but the above are the best of seen.

Heard a lot about Ian Chappell, botham and a few others, but the above are the best of seen.

While Fleming might pass waugh's catch record I don't think he'll ever be the same quality. Fleming is good but he has a tendancy to drop quite a few sitters once in a while. Alot like Rick Ponting I guess. Still, a great slipper. But Waugh is just the best we've seen, I'd argue he was better to spin bowling than Mark Taylor.

I'd say Flintoff is up there among current cricketers. Laxman as well.

Freddy without a doubt, and to continue the english all rounder theme, botham has got to be in there. And of course Mark Waugh, some of his slip catches off Warne were awesome.

Well, I can only go back a certain number of years.

Certainly since 1990..Mark Waugh & Mark Taylor were outstanding. New Zealand have had several, most notably The Crowe Brothers, Stephen Fleming & Jeremy Coney.

Warne has become quite a good slipsman & Flintoff is probably one of the best going at the moment.

Mark Waugh is yer top man for me; Beefy was good too, although he was probably just past his peak when I was able to appreciate cricket properly.

The only top slip not mentioned so far (that I've seen) is Hicky; 2nd only to Junior Waugh for my money.

i'd rate mark taylor over mark waugh, simply because taylor would take everything that came to him, while waugh would take every freaky catch that he could, but out of nowhere would drop a gobber.

i never saw him play, but the older generations talk about bob simpson being second to none as a slip fielder.

Laxman is very good in the slips...not so elsewhere.

I rate Dravid better in the slips. Laxman is good, Dravid is a lot better though.

His catch to remove Smith is hardly hilarious.

That being said I usually feel more comfortable with Dravid in the slips for the spinners.

Anyway best I've seen is Taylor and Waugh.

They put him there because he can't field anywhere else...come to think of it..I don't think I have ever seen Warne fielding anywhere apart from the slips.

Hick is the safest slip fielder I have seen. M Waugh too I guess.

They put him there because he can't field anywhere else...come to think of it..I don't think I have ever seen Warne fielding anywhere apart from the slips.

In tests he usually doesn't, being a specialist slip fielder. In one day matches he obviously fields elsewhere, since there often aren't any slips for significant periods in the game.
