I am pretty sure I saw Mbhalati implicated and matshikwe was in the Lions team and suddenly no contracts ? Looks dubious.
I suppose we look at what the SA 'A could look like ? Exlcuding the players that are going to the Carribean for the tri-series (Rossouw,Behardien,Parnell,Morris,Shamsi,Phangiso) and are in the test team (Elgar,Cook Bavuma,Piedt)
4-day Team
Heino Kuhn
Reeza Hendricks
Omphile Ramela
Stiaan van Zyl
Theunis de Bruyn
Qaasim Adams/Yaseen Vallie
Dane Vilas
Vernon Philander/David Wiese/ Dwaine Pretorius
Simon Harmer/Keshav Maharaj
Dane Paterson/Beuran Hendricks/Craig Alexander
Hardus Viljoen/Marchant de Lange
* Heino Kuhn was tremendous last season in the 4-day competition and if there are any slip-ups he will be there to give it a go.
** Reeza Hendricks is more of a selection that he has talent and been identified but had a poor last season and the move to the Lions could get him going again.
*** Middle order spots probably behind Bavuma, Duminy and Rossouw but big runs here and who knows.
**** Harmer recently had test possession and Maharaj probably one of the most improved SA cricketers. One off-spin, one slow-left-arm
***** Beuran Hendricks is struggling with injuries continually and I 'm not sure if he is fit. It probably is a big concern at the moment. I personally wouldn't include Paterson if Philander goes and Alexander is always way down my list but on pure stats last season they may get goes. Viljoen and de Lange have pace but are very erratic , again on pure stats you could probably expect to see them. Personally would like to see that next generation below challenged but probably need a big 2016/17 season to knock these guys off their perch.
Limited overs players you could see involved : Dave Miller, Vaughn Jaarsveld, Grant Thomson, JJ Smuts, Khaya Zondo, Andile Phehlukwayo, Eddie Leie, Mthokozisi Shezi, Sisanda Magala
* Miller after getting dropped will have to be involved here. van Jaarsveld flatters to deceive but when you watch him you got to wonder where it all went wrong. Think Thomson could be a bolter in the limited overs side. Looked a good clean striker of the ball while JJ Smuts is always valuable with his batting and slow left-armers. Right now Phehlukwayo probably deserves to get into the limited overs squad but is behind Savage for me in performances in the longer version. I think Leie is slipping down the pecking with Shamsi around and the useful all-round potential of Fortuin ,Linde and Subrayen.
I then look at that younger group who could easily be picked for the SA 'A' side inside the next 18 months with decent performances and development to come so I guess these are the one's to watch this season coming. I think a few of them it is a big season because guys like White, Ackermann, vd Dussen, D. Hendricks, Conway, Vandiar are probably looking at their ages and decent opportunities at franchise level and saying I need to start nailing it with consistency now.
Batsmen : Zubayr Hamza (FC) , Jason Smith (LO) , David White (FC) , Colin Ackermann , Rassie van der Dussen, Dominic Hendricks (FC) , Devon Conway, Aiden Markram, Jonathan Vandiar (LO)
all-rounders : Calvin Savage , Matt McGillivray, Dayyaan Galiem
Spinners : George Linde , Prenelan Subrayen , Bjorn Fortuin
Seamers : Lizaad Williams , Tshepo Moreki , Daryn Dupavillon, Rabian Engelbrecht , Duanne Olivier, Corne Dry , Keith Dudgeon, Lungi Ngidi
* van der Dussen, Ackermann, D.Hendricks, Dupavillon, Olivier have outside chances of getting SA 'A' selection on 2015/16 performances.
** Galiem, Engelbrecht, Dudgeon need to earn franchise contracts still
Captain Wiaan Mulder and Wandile Makwetu are probably the standouts in the SA u19 side that I am aware of but quite a few new names. Huge talk about these two. Mulder having Kallis-type shoes to fill and Makwetu as the star 'black African' batsman SA are looking towards.
