Surprised how much of a belting those semi-finals were. Wow.

Those 4 in the smei are the best 4 ever though imo, so interesting to see the consensus here.

For the final I vote Viv

Bevan's six tons and HS of 108* looks pretty crap compared to a lot of his peers. Pretty crazy actually he passed 100 six times and never got more than 108

I also found a 185* he got once against a decent strength Asia XI, but it didn't even count as a List A game let alone an ODI

Bevan batted too often at No.5 or lower to be able to score lots of centuries. However it's his average of 53.58 (2nd only to de Villiers on the ATG list) that makes him so great, and such a good finisher under pressure.

Without going too much into hypotheticals about eras and quality of bowling, opponents etc. Can we just picture Viv with these modern bats and these smaller boundaries.

I sort of agree with OS. You can't conceivably be better than AB. May be my imagination is limited.

The final is Viv vs ABDV
This is a tough one. Viv was head and shoulders above the rest in an era where people were still figuring out how to play ODI cricket. AB is one of the best batsmen in an era of LO greats and on his day, can still edge out Kohli by a whisker.

I really can't decide on ability alone, so I am looking at other factors such as state of the game which includes fielding restrictions, bowling attacks, strategies etc.

Viv just edges out AB by a whisker today. On a different day, I might have voted AB.
