As I have been saying for the last few days, Pollard has to be dropped for Guptill

Guptill
Rohit
Patel
Rayudu
Buttler
Krunal
Hardik

This lineup looks much better imo
This line up won't work with Patel in it. Will be a major liability if he comes in any time after the fifth over. Get Buttler to keep and get in Corey in place of Pollard maybe?

Good innings that today from Maxwell tbf.

Less said about Mitchell Johnson's "bowling" the better.

Yeah, Rayudu as a floating player maybe so if they get to over 12+ can sent Jos in at 4.
Actually, I'll keep Patel as floating player. If no wicket falls in the powerplay, then Rayudu comes 1st down, Jos 2nd down and so on...

Whatever it takes!!!
There's rust in MSD's brain if his thought process works like that these days.

My personal guess is that there's strain in their relationship. Dhoni somehow wants to prove Ashwin is not a great bowler (maybe Ashwin bragged about something during the nets).

Nah.. I would rather go for the cricketing reason than baseless speculation... I am pretty sure if there were issues between them he wont bowl him in the powerplays either.

Surprised they haven't upped the overseas quota from 4 up to 5. A 6/5 local to overseas spilt would still ensure there's a majority of local players playing but for me would only increase the quality of the cricket and hence audiences and ratings. I don't think they'd need to change the existing salary cap or numbers of overseas players in the squads either as there's already enough quality overseas players sitting on the respective benches.

Thoughts?

Aye. Have thought on it and yes, 5 overseas would be far better.
agreed. Don't India have another domestic T20 competition as well as the IPL anyway where all the locals can play with no overseas players? Can't see why too many people would be against adding an overseas player.

could be wrong

Or we could have 11 overseas players and you could arrange them together by countries and call it an international competition of some sort....

As far as I`m aware this is an Indian domestic competition that is being abused to try make lots of money by including international stars so that it has world appeal, that starting inevitably imo to lose its (international) appeal. The only reason I`ve watched about 2h of IPL is that there is literally no other cricket for me to watch. A specific design of the international calendar. How did that even happen? I so wish I could get county cricket here in SA.

Sorry, will try not rant again...

I would love a truly international T20 league where only the best players get in, but it's not realistic since India is such a huge market. The biggest problem I have with the IPL is that there are no Pakistani players.. Indians generally have enough good batsmen to make 2 international sides, it's just the bowlers that are a bit disappointing.

Yeah, or we could live in a world where money doesn't exist and everyone lives on fairy floss clouds and everyone is super happy all the time

realities of economics I'm afraid

My big problem with upping the overseas quota is that we'd inevitably see more garbage Aussie hacks get games because of the way the season's line up, there are already enough blokes like Moises Henriques absolutely stealing contracts.

As opposed to domestic hacks who are of far worse quality.

My biggest issue with the IPL is definitely the lack of Pakistani and English players.

Yeah, Jordan/Hales/Willey/Root would all good additions to teams. We have test match starting in a few weeks though so is a non-starter.

Jordan is already in IPL, will be interesting to see how it goes. IPL sides seem to like seam bowling all rounders so Stokes and Willey probably be in ahead of Ali/Rashid.

Roy vs Hales is an interesting one. You could well be right.
