Yeah, I'm sure there's millions of talented dancers in India, but that doesn't change the fact the best processional cheerleaders are traditionally from the United States. If it was traditional Indian dancers they wanted, I'm sure they'd have selected Indians.

Fair enough. I wouldn't claim to know much about the culture, although I do recall seeing Indian women dancing in provocative ways in the odd Bollywood movie I've seen, albeit it slightly longer skirts

Not really disagreeing on your greater point, but I'd assumed the IPL cheergirls are generally white because the IPL organisers wanted the best professional cheerleaders available from the get-go so sourced them from the US in which they just happen to be primarily white.

The again, perhaps I'm being naive.

I read that almost all the IPL cheerleaders are from Eastern Europe, apart from a few exceptions where they use American football cheerleaders.

Regardless where they are from, they are not top notch cheerleaders.... If these were the professionals from the NBA / AFL then they would actually be entertaining. These are, at best second rate eye candy. Its a pure homage to the actual thing. Either do it properly or not at all.... The local Indian dancers are for superior and more appealing.

Re: Miller, I was surprised he was picked as captain.. he isn`t even on the radar for SA and has no experience that I know of captaining...

I don't know how to explain that. Maybe they were just cheap ones.

And David Miller as captain is very strange, I'm not even convinced that he's that good a batsman to be taking up an international position

It's not because it would be frowned upon. More because white skin is attractive compared to other skin types supposedly. Which is why hendrix racist point is relevant. Bring in some Shiamak Dawar troops or other Mumbai dancers from Bollywood and they would rock the house.

White or not, American or Indian, I don't care too much and must admit I've never thought anything about it. Yet, what does bug me, is why the American/white girls wear proper slutty outfits, whereas the Indian girls wear traditional less reveiling outfits. I'm just guessing here, but could it be that form a marketing perspective, it makes sense to portray Indian girls as decent behaving girls, and hence portray the american girls as mere lust objects?

Let's ask Chris Gayle. I trust him on this subject .

I'm getting deja vu to a few years ago, when I kept wondering when people would realise Steve Smith was actually good. Seems while people have been forced to grudgingly accept that he's good, there's a tendency to hold on to something, ie. "he's bad at Twenty 20". Probably just a matter of time until people are willing to grudgingly accept he's good at T20 as well.

Agree with Pratters to extent though, while it's not true that he couldn't bat lower, ideally he should bat 1-3. I'd have him opening if it was up to me, he's classes above Rahane or du Plessis

I'm guessing there'd by outrage from a lot of Indian viewers & supporters if they paraded Indian girls around in slutty outfits, which is probably why they'd avoid it. More so than trying to cater to Indian men fetishes or whatever else it is people are claiming.

Marsh & Miller should seriously have their positions reconsidered.
