Haha just checked and the last time Wasim and Waqar played together, against Bangladesh in Jan 2002, they started the match with an aggregate of 746 wickets as well! Wasim had 414 and Waqar 332. This also became the last test Wasim ever played, with him leaving the field on the first morning itself after straining a hamstring having only bowled 2.4 overs. Quite a tame ending to a great career. If Anderson and Broad open for England tomorrow that's a fast bowling pairing with 746 wickets between them.
Has to be a record, doesn't it (I don't think Lee opened with McGrath in McGrath's late career did he?)
I wouldn't be surprised if Lee had up to 100 wickets left in the tank at the moment. So Anderson & Broad are probably not that far behind. Can't be bothered to figure things out exactly though.Lee and McGrath opened in the 06/07 Ashes. Clark first change.
They are ahead, yes. They last played in this match in 2000, and started with an aggregate of 878 wickets (476 to Walsh and 402 to Ambrose). And added 10 more by the endI wouldn't be surprised if Lee had up to 100 wickets left in the tank at the moment. So Anderson & Broad are probably not that far behind. Can't be bothered to figure things out exactly though.
And Courtney & Sir Curtly are ahead anyway. By some 150 wickets .
Haha how did I manage to forget about Walsh and Ambrose?I wouldn't be surprised if Lee had up to 100 wickets left in the tank at the moment. So Anderson & Broad are probably not that far behind. Can't be bothered to figure things out exactly though.

Walsh and Ambrose had 883 when they opened the bowling in the 2nd innings of Curtley's last test.If Anderson and Broad open for England tomorrow that's a fast bowling pairing with 746 wickets between them.

Getting old?Haha how did I manage to forget about Walsh and Ambrose?
Not reallySteyn out of the second test then. This sucks.
He was never going to play the second test. Too short turn around and wouldn't risk him with 2 tests still to go in the series.Steyn out of the second test then. This sucks.
Yeah think Rabada will do well and I'm excited about him as a prospect. But I want to watch Steyn dammit. He was never going to play the second test. Too short turn around and wouldn't risk him with 2 tests still to go in the series.
Believe Radaba will do a more then decent job as a standin. More worried about the batting then the bowling.
