Funny that Moeen and Woakes both got ducks after all the hype about how stacked the lower order was really. They're always going to fail sometimes obviously, but funny it was today.

Shame for Bairstow, he looked really good but had to slog with the bunnies in. Him/Compton looked to be really well set.

Steyn has looked a little flat today. Been a long time since he played a full series without looking like he was carrying niggle.

I guess we would have taken a score of 275 or more when we were 49-3 in the gloom yesterday, feels a waste though.

A good test for our attack after lunch without Anderson. I think on day 4 that if we set them around 230 to win it will be tough to get.

Here's George Macphers, offloading a few sizable chips: "Well done Bairstow you missed out on a half-century which would have been crucial for England. Bring in Lyth, Ballance, Jordan who can get some runs in place of the people who failed to score or even got out cheaply. How long till Anderson comes back into the fold. Give the Overton twins a go. Heck let Jack Brooks have a crack too. Obviously Cook is never going to be dropped from the team for bad performances since he is like by the bloody selectors one of whom named James Whitaker is the brother of my boss."

Cricinfo, everybody. Lyth > Cook.

I'm not even sure we can call that a knee-jerk given he's calling for the bowlers to replaced too. It's more like a nervous knee-twitch.

Be interesting to see how Ali bowls because Peidt has looked absolutely village from his second delivery on wards.

I reckon the outfield has taken 20 or so off a typical par score so it's going to be an alright total. Problem is SA are about to have the best of the batting conditions, but the also have to bat last.
