I don't even know what more can be said or done about WIndies cricket. Surely Oz could have found a better team to play against for what is the highlight of the cricketing year.

patto bowling himself back into form against this rabble before the nz tests is very good for us
CA should have invited Zimbabwe or Bangladesh over instead. At least they'd try (and probably put up more of a scrap. Zimbabwe beat Pakistan in a test immediately after one of their mass exodus events).

Not sure Australia really get much out of this the longer it goes on. Don't you have India coming down for some ODIs?

Dermo's comment crossed my mind as well. Before this series started I had NZ and Australia evenly pegged in our conditions. However if they have an attack of Pattinson, Starc, Hazelwood - then they could be irresistible in places like the Basin.

I actually came into the thread that Darren Bravo has given up on his team mates, he is like I am just going to bat for red ink as I know none of you blokes will give me a stand. He thinks that rest of his team is useless at batting.

The positives for both nations are few and far between

Oz

Burns is obviously developing his technique, Patto is getting overs under his belt and SMarsh is out but bashing a weak foreign team on flat decks is hardly newsworthy plus it might give us an inflated sense of self-worth

We are average and this series doesn't change it

Windies

They are horrible and the best that they can hope for is that it toughens guys like Bravo up and softies such as Samuels are punted

Cricketing public

Generally regard the series as a joke and are rightly sceptical of our performance given the Ashes debacle

Seriously Samuels GTFO. Blackwood too. This is the side that thought they could afford to lose Chanderpaul. What a joke.

A good day for cricket at the MCG today.
40,000 odd there.Enough to make a bit of noise but there still enough room to get comfortable. Bay 13 kept up the noise most of the day.

Smith and Voges played tip and run most of the day, scoring at a good clip and then after lunch made about 75 off 15 overs.
Taylor looked sharp in his one spell,Holder and Braithwaite were steady, the spinners asked a couple of questions but apart from a couple of half chances the batsmen didn't seem bothered.

The WI openers got away to a decent start, it was surprise to for Lyon to be first change and then for him to continue after tea, but it worked Braithwaite was out to Lyon first ball after tea turning a simple catch to short leg.
Samuels and Chadrika found Patto nice and warmed in his spell after tea.
Blackwood put in a good performance after nearly being yorked first ball, the six off Lyon being totally unexpected. Then the wheels fell off with Siddle taking 2 in 2 balls.
The pressure put on by the Aus bowlers finally told.

It was a disappointing end to the day.

Bravio's innings was odd, he didn't try and farm the strike, even off the last ball of the day they took only 2 runs when 3 was on and would have given Bravo the strike for the first over tomorrow.
