Still amazes me that Matt Hardy is in that position in the first place. Bloke jumped the shark in about 2003. That said, his epic waaaahhhhh about Lita and Edge and the storyline that resulted had to be the nadir, surely?

I think there were times when Matt definitely was the better Hardy tbf to him. Jeff definitely ultimately reached a higher level in the end, but he didn't really get his singles matches nailed down until the mid 2000s at the earliest. From their debut until about 2002-2003 when they appeared more or less exclusively as a tag team Matt definitely helped glue their matches together and supported Jeff a lot, and I think that often gets forgotten. And yeah I agree his 2005 feud with Edge was great, it's probably the most over he has ever been, and ever will be.

Matt was insanely over when he returned in 2005, but his return promo is still 10 years on rarely been surpassed for the awfulness. The crowd popped huge for his return and were insanely hot, but he rambled and rambled, twas painful especially towards the end when he started wishing death on Edge.


However to be fair he was over when he moved to Smackdown, his live reactions were fantastic, close to Batista level pops. Vince would kill for someone to be that over now:laugh:

His feud with MVP was great fun, 2 lads who put on good matches, crowd were invested in and were clearly loving their feud. The basketball challenge, Evander Hollyfield knocking out Matt and of course the Stone Cold return at Summerslam where he replaced Matt in a drinking contest v MVP:laugh:

Austin running the ropes preparing for his beer drinking is fantastic fun. :D

in all seriousness though, these two are going to have a TLC match at the PPV this weekend yeah? I really don't get the reasoning behind having these guys basically have a mini TLC match 1 week before the event. That is very weird writing. Usually you just have a mini showdown or something on the last TV show, but that was a 15-20 minute segment including basically all the moves and **** that they'l be doing on Sunday.

Odd stuff.
