Because despite the showing this match Craig can actually bat.

Southee having his once in a blue moon innings though.
This isn't actually true, Southee quite frequently scores a quick dozen or two. Half his innings are 15 runs or more.

Edit: to clarify, he scores a quick dozen or two and no more.

Yeah but this innings a great example of why his average doesn't actually represent his batting value. Matthew Hoggard averaged about 9 but probably added more runs than Southee because he actually batted for the set batsman he was batting with whenever he came in.

That's a lot of overs the seamers have got through. Can't wait for John Wayne Hastings to come in for the deciding test.

Yeah I'd be interested in his partnership runs. That said NZ's tail averages something stupidly high recently per wicket right?
