it's both really, he's not great at working the ball to leg and when he can't drive on the up through the line like he can on these pitches, he gets himself in trouble
I mean I defy anyone to name a batsman who isn't troubled by Anderson decking the ball away in the conditions we saw in England a few months ago, but the ball coming into him is more of a genuine weakness specific to him

Can think of Dravid but that's about it.

That was an ATG batsman who has a technique perfect to bat against swing batting at his absolute peak, which kind of shows how difficult it is

And he was definitely troubled too. Anderson and Broad beat him countless times outside off stump. He just batted amazingly well to get through it.

That's fair. Some different strengths and weaknesses I suppose, despite them both being ridiculously destructive
They're pretty much perfect examples of what you imagine a world class ultra aggressive opener from India and Australia would look like. With each of them you'd struggle to think of batsman you'd rather have in their home conditions while they're in their peak.

I see your point but when the bloke whose got the best point of view is the bowler, who is desperate for a wicket, you can see how you'd review that. way easier to see that would probably be umpires call when your watching on TV as opposed to the captain at mid on.

that should've been given imo
Yeah I think that was a fair enough review tbh, looked plumb enough that it could realistically be overturned. But so many others that they review scream 'Umpire's Call' from the start, and now NZ has no reviews if they miss out on a shocker.

I agree though I think it's amplified more than most with Warner because he looks to get forward and drive so much.

Khawaja has legit impressed me this series. Not the best bowling but he's played way better than I thought he would from a technical POV.

Partially that, also that his stance/set-up being so width-oriented means he finds it a bit harder to access balls coming into him than most left-handers.
