Get to lunch. Get to the new ball. See what happens. We might get some lucky boundaries - follow on is still a long way away. Any news on Southee?

Why does no-one mention Angelo Mathews when talking about good young bats?

Particularly when the commentators are talking about 30 year old, played international cricket for 11 years AB de Villiers as a young batsman.

Always kind of felt like he is a bit stuck between generations but yeah if they are talking about de Villiers then they need to be talking about Amla and Cook as well.

Probably because he's played in Sangakkara's shadow through his entire career. Hopefully that'll change going forward.

Because in CH9 cricket parlance, the 'tree falls in the woods' conundrum is expressed as 'if performances are made outside of Australia, do they make a noise?'

To be fair, Mathews does 'only' have 7 Test hundreds, one more than Vettori and has scored the bulk of his runs at 5-6.

Mark Taylor describing Voges as "left-arm floaters" is a commentary highlight.

It's not just a channel 9 thing, everyone talks about the Fab 4 of Root-Smith-Kohli-Williamson.

Would say that was a decent session if it weren't for the fact that any feeble hopes we may have had of saving the game departed with Watling.

We have forced a 4th day if nothing else and we are battling which is all I wanted out of today.

Yeah the Voges drop means the session belonged to NZ, definitely.

That is completely true. Just saying you'll get no chance of hearing about him from those bozos.

As I said, playing devil's advocate you'd think Mathews would have to bat in the top four consistently to join that group. I've not seen a lot of him outside ODI cricket so I couldn't say how good he is.

Not the worst session, I guess. Only issue being that we're 8 out all out, especially with the new ball around the corner.
