Wish I'd watched more of this. Seems to be Clarke in Cape Town levels of just being a massive class above anyone else on his team. 100* (129) when the rest of the batting line up has **** the bed and collectively posted 149/7 off 45.3 overs is phenomenal.
Latham and Watling weren't terrible, but yeah.

Thanks Adam. Nice time for a bit of luck.

I absolutely love it on cricinfo's match centre, how KW is simply 'Kane' and everyone else is their last name. Right up there with the eponymous greats of sport already.
Pretty sure that's just a character length thing.

Seriously wtf is up with these tailenders trying to slog it while KW is playing a masterclass at the other end?

Normally hundreds in this sort of situation are scored when one batsman has refused to be beaten and ground his way there off about 250 balls. Williamson has legitimately flogged the Australian attack, which is remarkable when you look at the rest of the card.

'Just the way they play' I'm sure we'd hear from McMillan afterwards.

**** off. Show a bit of resilience and bat for Kane.

It's just really clever spin bowling. The lower order can't play from the crease as they might pop one up to the close in catchers, so they are trying to (correctly) use their feet to get to the ball. But Lyon is reading them, and beating them in flight. They go down the track and realise that they won't reach the ball.

At this stage, having commited to going down and playing the shot, they can either try to block/play a softer shot - which leaves them prone to a bat pad catch/stumping, or they can follow through with the stroke and hope it lands in a gap in the field.

I have no idea why he's whacking Mitch back over his head tho.
