Um there have been situations like this loads of times in the past. Rahane and Rayudu flopped more often than not.

We're really missing someone like Yuvraj.

Nohit killing it now tho.
Rayudu shouldn't even be added to the comparison as he is an inferior batsmen to begin with. Look, Rahane would never have batted above Dhoni or Raina in a situation like this, the only reason Kohli batted over Dhoni today is because he is Kohli.

What I don't understand is why everyone has already made up their mind about Rahane not being able to close an innings coming in the final 10 overs, yeah ok he's not an out and out power player but he is an attacking player and is always more likely to succeed when looking to play shots than rotating the strike, RAHANE SUCKS AT STRIKE ROTATION! People need to understand that.

Completely misconstruing my issue with Rohit, but okay sure.

I agree Kohli needs to come in earlier, but the only way he does that is by batting three.

If he bats at three, then you have Rahane coming in at situations like this, and he is a lot less suited to these situations than Kohli is.

In an ideal scenario you have Rahane opening and Kohli at three, but then you got to drop one of Dhawan and Rohit, and that's going to be unfair to both of them. India also doesn't have any batsman available who could do a job at number 4 - Kohli and Rahane are literally the two best choices for the role.

It's a tricky problem. I hope they persist with this order for a few games and decide what to do based on the results.

Jesus christ MSD don't run yourself out plz.
Yeah India's resources just don't lead to an easy answer. I think I'd probably go with this order when setting a target but bat Kohli at 3 in chases. If it meant Rahane was contributing **** all overall I'd just drop him I think.

All of India's problems are basically solved if we had a 2011 Yuvraj Singh
We do have Raina, so I think we're ok here. Even if Dhoni had gone early I'd have backed Raina to get us home.

But yeah, Yuvraj's hitting + especially his troll SLAs were amazing.

Dhoni is being a troll agian. 9 from 16 making fans think he's batting too slowly before comfortably guiding us home/getting out and leaving us in a **** situation.
