At the moment it's Mata+Depay+ Januzaj/Young for the three spots behind the striker. Maybe Herrera, but it's not his best position. It's pretty thin, we definitely could've used Pedro.
Rooney replacement far more important though imo. It just doesn't look like LVG agrees.

The club are briefing that they "ended" their interest - depending on who you believe, either a) LvG decided against it, b) Woodward haggled over paying in installments, or c) Chelsea joined in and Pedro was swayed that way.

Reckon Rooney would be better at 10 than at 9 these days as well. Mata, Depay, Januzaj, Young and Rooney isn't bad as far as options go for those 3 positions. A striker should definitely be the priority.

Pretty damning on Woodward if that's who they're lining up. He's a fairly good player and all, but I think a club of United's stature (+CL football) could be doing better.

Yeah, pretty big gap in quality between Pedro and Mané. Mané's decent, but Pedro is world-class. Not good for United. Losing out on Otamendi and Pedro could be huge in the title race.

Mane is much younger, so he is kind of more sensible, but Southampton won't have been planning to sell him so it'll take a massive fee to pry him away. Sort of deal that needed to be done months ago.

Rooney's best position is always the one he isn't currently playing. He started last season at 10 and was ****e, so there were calls to play him in midfield. He was ****e there, so there were calls to play him up front. Now he's ****e up front people are saying he should be at 10 and the wheel is complete. He's just ****e. Time for the media to accept it and move on.

The Otamendi links seem to be invented - several jouralists with close links to United say the club has repeatedly briefed the press to give that one a wide birth. All indications so far are that it was Ramos or nothing. So, nothing.

Tbf though, this will increase their spending in the last two years to about £100m just to try and find that second wide player. Doesn't say a lot for Cuadrado that they're bringing Pedro in.
