Have heard some (in other social media) claiming that this was a dreadful pitch and a disgrace to cricket (oh, and 'cheating'). Comments like "it's so green you can't distinguish it from the rest of the field". I'm currently looking at the wickets on 5.
Rogers: Straightened a fraction off the pitch but Rogers had opened himself up by putting his front leg straight down the pitch, which caused the edge.
Smith: Wandered so far across hie stumps and edged a ball, which did very little, he could have left along.
Warner: Seemed to do a bit in the air and a touch more off the pitch. Good ball but look where his feet were pointing when it reached him.
Marsh: Straightforward ball, just pushed at it
Voges: I heard some talking about it like it moved a foot. It seamed away a little but if you push firmly at a moving ball catches can happen.Great catch though, maybe the best slip pouch I've ever seen.
Clarke: Mind could have been scrambled by then, it swung away a little but no footwork.
Nevill: Looked, and was, a decent ball but he just moved laterally, never really got back or forward,
Starc: Late order batsman, ball seamed but was short enough to have left.
Johnson: See above
Lyon: Tailender excuses allowed.
The pitch didn't do much (if any) more than you often see in England on a first morning - these are Test bowlers after all.
It was very good, disciplined bowling and batting techniques set up to fail against even minimal movement if the bowling is consistent.
It should have been about 80-3 at lunch.
There was still movement during the rest of the day but watch how much later the English batsmen played the ball.
