geez for all this talk of our bowling stocks, if starc gets ruled out of the series or they just want to bring someone in they're not exactly spoilt for choice. Bird and Hilf have been ****, uhh Patto? Sandhu? if you're going in the uncapped direction I guess Fekete would be ideal ahead of Sayers and NCN. as long as they don't send Kane Richardson

Don't really think they were very good on Day 1 despite racking up all those runs tbh. They've been good since then though.
Yeah true, Root aside. You could make an argument that Australia's slow start allowed them to build up to some quality cricket. Reckon we'd have seen them fade a lot more badly as the Australian innings went on if they hadn't got a good total up front.

McKay's doing well for Leicestershire, just saying.

He's gone now but its almost ridiculous how freely Root finds scoring these days given the last home Ashes he spent a lot of time not looking like he could get it off the square. SR of about 70 this year including the games in WI where the rest of the team scored about 1 an over.

Disappointing from Root. Everyone knows that great batsmen squat down to the turf when a delivery keeps low and gets through their defence. Still has a lot to learn.
