To be fair I think it's highly debatable whether Australia's best Test XI includes Nathan Lyon, or a spinner at all.

As popular as Lyon is, he's been average at best. And while it's better to have stuck with him for a while than it was in the immediate post-Warne era of picking a different spinner each game, The selectors need to be wary of going to far in the other direction and continually selecting an average off-spin bowler if you've got better fast bowlers that aren't playing.

Voges and Clarke could probably do almost as good a job as bowlers than Lyon anyway tbh

no they wont for ****s sake. Lyon's record in test cricket is perfectly fine considering that he does most of the bowling in Australia where Murali averages 1000 with the ball. Australia have quick bowlers who are better individual bowlers than Lyon but picking them ahead of Lyon does not make the attack better.

As i said i could have lived with a 4 man pace attack if it was Ryno but not with Skinny Pete and with all the left handers in that line up gawd its so stupid. Most wickets look green a day before a match anyway

if they pick siddle then they should rather pick smarsh at 6 as a specialist batsman as well ahead of the seam bowling allrounders. 4 quicks+watson/mmarsh is an overkill.

Why don't we just get Glenn Maxwell into the team. Maxwell + Voges together could at least match Lyon, and you could play either 4 specialist quicks or bat your keeper at 8, have 5 bats, Mitch Marsh and Maxwell at 6 and 7.

Boom there's all Australia's selection problems for the next decade solved. No need to waste a spot on a specialist spinner when we obviously don't have any good enough to earn their spot.

If you want that attack you better hope that they've taken all the wickets with the first new ball because they'll be buggered by the time they'v reached the 2nd one. Also better hope that pattinson and Cummins doesn't break down from all the overs they have to bowl.
