When he's "ready" apparently, but no time frame has been given yet. Dana said in the press the other day that he's making very good progress and there should be some news soon, but not overly convinced he's definitely going to fight TBH. I just don't know who they'll match him up with.

you know what'd be funny. if Punk came back to WWE and eventually got his Mania main event. Except it is against Trips. And he loses.

Meltdown would be amazing.

He didn't want to win anyway. Dude said he was ok if he even lost in 10 minutes. Just wanted to main event.

Can understand his frustration too. Even during his long title run, he never really got the ME spotlight as much as a long reigning champ should.

WWE has booked their heels champs like crap for ages now (unless their name is Lesnar).

I don't mind Rollins losing, or even losing regularly. But when you lose regularly , and then take losses to pretty much the least credible people on the entire roster (even if it wasn't clean), sooner or later you just begin to look like ****e.

It also runs the risk of devaluing a title when you take that approach too much. Part of the reason why the IC and US titles have needed their prestige restoring is because they've been passed around guys who just lose every week. (Wade Barrett)

HHH in 2000?

Did he lose much? Cbf remembering.
Didn't reach reign of terror levels but he was very much the dominant heel champ. Even when Rocky took the belt off him, first time he needed Austin's help and the second time he pinned Vince.

So, even accounting for Brooklyn Brawler loss, maybe one too Funaki too?, I'd say definitely not.

It's not wrong though, is it?

I don't even disagree with your wider point (that it's perfectly ok to have a cowardly champion), but context is everything. And all Rollins does is just lose all the bloody time.
Nah your second point was fair enough but doesn't apply here because Rollins brings his a-game when he defends the title (well, chamber shenanigans aside)

But in terms of losses. The J&J loss was a non-entity. The others. Who were they to? Correct me if am wrong, but his title rivals, who have then subsequently not got the job done when it mattered. That's the whole point.

Honestly, I think that HHH is steering the booking of Rollins as a huge old school NWA fan, and basically trying to replicate the sort of title reigns Flair used to have. Looking like anyone could beat him when the gold wasn't on the line. Held up titles after disputed finishes. But keeping the strap, and having bloody great matches in the process.

I was saying all of this a month ago but it's not working anymore for me. And the very fact that there are people here who feel that Rollins has looked weak by losing too much and that the title belt could lose credibility is a failure on some level on wwe 's part. You can't argue that. We should not be feeling that way because everyone here loves Rollins and loved it when he got the belt.

Meant the title reign, not the belt.
I'm actually a bit torn on this now, having thought about it. For me, the quality of a title reign should be assessed by its defences, and as GIMH has pointed out, when it comes to defending the damn thing he gets the job done, and usually in a convinving fashion.

I don't think it necessarily devalues the title either, so I guess, therefore, the issue for me is that as a matter of personal preference I just simply am not a fan of having a heel champ booked precisely in the way they've done with him. Essentially, and I'll retract my earlier points somewhat here, the way he has been handled has not devalued the title, nor the fact that he has it, but in my eyes it has devalued him. Somehow. If that makes sense.

I don't mind the cowardly heel champion. But if they are going run with that trope they could at least handle it the way they handled Edge and Jericho when they had their runs a few years ago. Or Stone Cold from the Alliance days. Or even CM Punk when he was in charge of the New Nexus. You got the impression with those guys that whilst they were yellow-bellied, they had a really nasty mean streak, and you wouldn't want to be stuck in the ring with them. Rollins on the other hand just seems to lose repeatedly, and not only does he lose matches, but he seems to "lose" more or less every segment/angle, even when he's got all his cronies on his side. And not only does he seem to lose every segment, but he gets his ass absolutely handed to him.

So yeah, tl;dr version: I don't mind cowardly heel champs, but I wish they would at least make him look like a bit of a badass from time to time. PPV matches aside.
