Okay will go match by match

Ambrose Harper part one was decent. The whole Piper Goldust thing would have been worth doing if we'd actually had them fighting in the streets. As it was, it was just a bit gimmicky. I quite like this feud though and wouldn't mind seeing them go again

Sheamus Dolph was a good match. As expected in terms of quality. Really didn't expect a Ziggler win though. The stuff at the end was fine IMO, he obviously wasn't actually going to kiss it.

Tag match was way good. Match of the night. New Day as heels is so right, and those guys can go in the ring. Very nicely done. Would love to see a rematch.

The chain match had the most stupid rules. Like seriously that momentum ****. The lights were a great idea and then rendered pretty pointless by the new rule. Whoever came up with it should be fired. It wasn't an awful match but it was easily the weakest of the three.

The divas match happened. If you're going to give them a chance can you make it the good ones please.

Reigns-Big Show was quality. Thought it would be after they tore the joint down with a street fight at the house show I was at recently. Loved the finishing stretch. For all the stick he's had, three PPVs in a row now Reigns has had a belter and surely this time people can't put it down to his opponent

Main event was decent but nothing more than that. Kane's actions were wholly predictable. Like duffer, I highly enjoyed Seth's RKO. And Seth leaving via the door is cool. Guessing at Payback we get Rollins V Kane V Orton but I've been wrong before (read: usually)

I didn't watch the pre show and wish I had. Will check that match out in the week.

All in all, it was pretty much what I said it would be. A watchable show but not one I would ever have any desire to watch again. Shame really, for many a year this (as Backlash) was a PPV that always delivered in a big way. Something fresh is definitely needed; Seth as champ is good and I dig a chicken **** champion, the Cena open challenge is good. Outside of that, with Bryan on the shelf there ain't an awful lot going on. Hopefully things get shaken up soon.

There's no way he will lose this clean.

Could see him losing by way of some shenanigans though. Possibly the "he was incapacitated so he lost but never quit" cop out.
What if he does, though? Have Cena drop the title in an open challenge due to Rusev interference, Rusev goes over clean and rockets up the card. And you can leverage it into a Cena heel turn if they're still ridiculously light on anything resembling a main event heel while the faces are all moving tons of merch.

Jbl: Neville is an amazing high flier in the vein of Owen Hart from years gone by

Booker T : Owen was amazing but couldn't defy gravity like Neville

Oh Booker please think before you speak

see my assumption was that the first PPV of the new season, if you get what I mean, was always something of a bore fest coz clearly all the guys that won at WM are gonna keep their titles and you're sorta just killing time.

Nah sometimes they'd right the wrongs from Mania. Such as Rock winning the title in 2000. And other times they'd have awesome rematches.

I miss that 2-3 year period where all the PPVs were the same annually. No Way Out, Backlash, Judgment Day, Fully Loaded etc.

EDIT: Looks like they were using some of these names even in 2009. There you go.

Haha, it's not happening though is it? Cena losing clean in an I Quit Match, of all things, to anyone is pretty unfathomable. Top faces simply do not lose these kinds of stip matches. (Yeah, just checked Wiki for a history of every I Quit match the WWE has ever put on, and the only faces who have ever lost are, so far as I can see anyway, Rey Mysterio and Stephanie McMahon...make of that what you will.)

Anyway, I really hope Cena doesn't lose. As others have said, his open challenge is the best thing in the WWE at the moment, it'd suck if they didn't give that a really good run and have it end with something really decent.

Word is they are doing a new US title design for Cena. Can't see him losing it anytime soon.

Only problem with the open challenge is he'll run out of contenders before long.

Mankind was face when he lost to Rock in 99, and also when he lost to Flair in 05ish
Oh yeah, forgot about that one. Could have sworn Foley was heel in that feud with Flair though. I remember him attacking him after matches and backstage and stuff.

In any case, I maintain that the really top faces do not lose these matches.

One of my favourite matches of all time. Rocky was on another level at that time and the bumps Foley took were seriously scary.

Enjoyed that Foley-Rock match at the time, but looking back I hate it. It's pretty cringeworthy. The footage they showed on Beyond the Mat with his wife and kids watching the match is almost as painful to watch as the match itself :(

sledger didn't say clean. Ergo, he was wrong. As usual.

He's almost as bad as Mr WCW himself, Jono, in terms of talking drivel in this thread.

Since we're talking about him, what's Foley's greatest avatar? Dude Love, Mankind or Cactus Jack?
