Can honestly say I don't mind who wins this, possibly even leaning towards NZ.

But that's right now. Come Sunday it'll be all about the boys in GOLD.

Dream final though can't wait.

Come on NZ, though I guess if Australia win it will be a fitting way to end a turbulent summer for them and a great tribute to Hughes.

Think tonight's result is good for NZ. For some reason, had a feeling that India would definitely beat NZ; can't really explain why, but think they're a very good chance of beating us. If we lose, I'll be disappointed but not shattered. Think I would have been shattered for NZ if they had've lost to India.

Warner's had more ODIs and hasn't done better. Finch has.

Finch getting through the first ten overs is an issue, but his batting between 10 - 35 overs is very good and underrated.

I'm still not convinced Australia are putting out the best team they possibly could. As much as I think he's a spud surely Watson is a better opener than Finch and Warner, and I'm not convinced Faulkner is really necessary when you've got Haddin, Johnson and Starc as your 8-9-10 and Cummins in the wings.

You must be kidding. Finch's technique is bush league stuff. He's can't last with it IMO. Warner has the potential to do much better.
He got the results though. Plus he did it today when it mattered. I see people pissing and moaning about it but you know what? He toughed it out. He made sure that there's a good partnership that built a base for the last 20 overs. Smith definitely helped a lot, but he was the person at the other end making sure we're at above 5 RPO from 1-30 and that's what you need. He might struggle but when he gets a start he usually makes sure it matters, which I feel is perfectly fine for our team.

Plus warner has underperformed in most of his ODI careers. He did jack**** this world cup other than belting afghanistan.

Also would back finch at the G.

No way, faulkner is our pressure player.

Faulker provides something different pace and change-up wise from Cummins / the rest of the attack, especially on a wicket that is starting to slow up a bit. Like the World T20 when we had Johnson/Nannes/Tait.

Faulkner bowled poorly early on today but I actually have more confidence in him as an ODI bowler than Cummins right now anyway.. and that's even before we consider the fact that he averages 43 with the bat.

Leaving out one of the openers for Bailey wouldn't be completely stupid, but it'd be approaching Sri Lanka levels of random panicky selections for the final IMO.

The only change to this team I would've considered before the semi would've been Hazlewood out for Cummins or Doherty, and Hazlewood bowled awesomely to cement his spot.

Faulkner's batting is one of the things that gives your team the depth that makes them so frightening in the slog overs.

Useful jammy wicket taker too.

Yeah I don't really like Faulkner as a cricketer -- he comes across a massive dick and I don't enjoy his bowling style -- but I think he's a serious player. Under-rated a tad.

i'm going for my charge shots over cover

we're not going to struggle to find 20 overs of bowling. henry is a world class talent. it's candy/elliott/kane that could go for big runs.
then why wasn't he picked in the original squad
Bizarre posting. Literally everyone who has seen Henry bowl agrees he's a serious talent.

Henry was effectively left out for Boult. And we've seen how Boult has gone so far...

Nah, NZ would have had a much better chance vs. India. We did them 4-0 in NZ 12 months ago, and both sides have improved by about the same level since. Even if they have played more in Australia recently.

Oh boy this is going to be exciting. Was hoping for this since the quarters.

To be honest, I wouldnt mind if aus lost...but then i read through the thread and it would be so delicious for Maxwell to hit the winning runs and see the collective heart break.

Anyway. Im just hoping for a cracking atmosphere and a cracking game.

This exists.

FMD whoever created that ought to be shot for not understanding what a Venn diagram actually is.

apparently no bowling behind southee, boult and dan. henry 5fer incoming.
It's funny that Cory Anderson's bowling has completely flown under the radar in this tournament.

14 wickets at an average of 16. Genuine wicket taker.

We've all been asking that one.

The fact that he was bought straight into the team, ahead of the two bowlers selected in the squad ahead of him, shows that the selectors ****ed up.
