It's a bit ironic that SA' incredible fiedling effort in the end wasn't enough because of those two absolutely terrible missed runouts.
I'd be surprised if we aren't talking about those two run outs (and the dropped catch/ collision) in 4 years time tho. Kinda sad.

Unfortunately, I think AUS will beat NZ in the final thanks to experience and home field advantage but I'll be cheering for NZ.

Now back to the other thread if we are going to lose against Aus don't want it to be this way would like to get beaten by 100 runs or 10 overs remaining :)

What just happened? All day South Africa have looked streets ahead and somehow we won it. I have no words.

Except WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Kia kaha to the South Africans, I feel really bad for them. A cruel way to lose when they didn't do much wrong. The rain favoured us, but well, we got there in the end didn't we? YES

That Anderson Elliott partnership must be one of the greatest ever in knockout cricket. Scoreboard pressure. A couple quick wickets. The Yarpies getting a little movement. And they just kept calm and batted on.

Morkel definitely came back to almost take it from us.
Yeah that partnership was epic. Amazingly calm batting under immense pressure. Looked so determined not to throw it away.

SA could well have got 350+, but they could also have gotten 310-320 because they have little batting depth. They had 7 extra pre-death overs, one of the most volatile periods of batting - plays can run riot knowing they can just wait for their balls to hit, or lose a wicket and go into their shell, wait for the death.

Ultimately South Africa decided to bat first knowing D/L generally favours the chasing team, although again that's countered by South Africa's lack of batting depth - which didn't get the chance to be a factor.

South Africa had their chances. New Zealand did what was expected, kept coming and took advantage.

.
Agreed.

You'd feel more sympathy for South Africa if they were getting horror decisions and the luck was going for NZ, however they had their chances and didn't get it done. Harsh , but that is sport.

Let's get serious

NZ were done with ABDV at the crease

They got home via Ellott and rain

Let me repeat - ****ing Elliott

I feel really sorry for SA
i think no body cares about it now ...why you need to repeat the same thing again and again come to the other semifinal thread we wil have some fun their

Ah bugger off. In that Universe Guptill may have toned up. Cricket isn't a hypothetical sport. This was as fair a rain shortened hame you get. You can't take what Miller came out and did for granted. Could easily have edged one early and they'd be looking thankful to reach 310.
