We're talking 'difficult maths' as in topology here yeah?apropos of nothing: alcohol makes difficult maths much much easier for some reason
OK. You know how when a batsman thrusts his pad out with his bat nowhere near it? Most umpires will tend to give more marginal decisions against the batsman when they do this. Because the batsman is artificially creating doubt with negative tactics rather than trying to hit the ball. Walking across your stumps is similar. You're literally just standing in the way of the thing the bowler is trying to hit. For similar reasons, I understand why umpires would be similarly likely to rule against batsmen frequently employing this tactic.i've literally never heard of this before
i mean the main reason umps giving it out when padding up is because (a) it looks truly horrible and (b) you're not trying to hit the ball. it's less negative tactics and more lack of bat in a bat and ball game.OK. Walking across your stumps isn't anywhere near as bad, but it's still in a similar vein.i mean the main reason umps giving it out when padding up is because (a) it looks truly horrible and (b) you're not trying to hit the ball. it's less negative tactics and more lack of bat in a bat and ball game.

Lehmann/Katich/Smith batting looks truly horrible imo.i mean the main reason umps giving it out when padding up is because (a) it looks truly horrible and (b) you're not trying to hit the ball. it's less negative tactics and more lack of bat in a bat and ball game.
yeah, but kevin pietersen and abdv. i mean yeah it looks worse but it's not like all batsmen don't look terrible when they get hit in front having gone across their stumpsLehmann/Katich/Smith batting looks truly horrible imo.
The immediate thought of the viewer is "if he misses that one on his pads he's plumb in front/bowled around his legs". Hence umpire much more likely to fire you when it eventually happens.
